Who is favored in the Walker/Warnock runoff for the Georgia Senate seat? (Updated: Warnock wins)

Plus, i don’t think Trump gives two shits who controls the Senate. Having Dems retain control might even give him an additional enemy to run against.

Trump cares about 2 things in this world, himself and Ivanka.

Either you meant to say “Warnock” in your first sentence, or you’re stretching Poe’s Law to the breaking point.

They voted for Walker in the poll, not the actual election

OOOOOhhhhhh! That makes so much more sense. Thank you, @hajario, and sorry for the misunderstanding, @flurb!

And the reason he cares for Ivanka is that she is only woman in the world who would still give him the time of day if he wasn’t rich, and deep down, he knows this.

Still wondering if Trump will rally for Walker. I’m leaning to yes, because rallies are like oxygen to Trump, he needs adoring crowds to feed his ego in order to survive.
But in the other hand, he’s really butthurt at the moment because he spent some small fraction of the money he grifted on other people, his candidates in the midterms and held a bunch of rallies for them and he’s not getting credit for this phenomenal midterm success. All the fake news will talk about is how bad the results were for the Republicans, and no one is talking about how good they were for Trump.

So he may decide not to participate because they aren’t making it about Trump.

Interesting. And then the ~10K votes for the Libertarian candidate - which way might they go, or sit home. I think there is just too much churn and variables to really predict which way this is going to go. “It’s hard to predict, especially the future.”

Yep, I meant that I voted for Walker in the poll. I was being tongue-in-cheek about the litter boxes (although that’s apparently a real thing in the right-wing bubble), but I really do think Republicans will be more motivated to turn out. People are just more motivated to get out and vote to express opposition than support. That’s also why Trump declaring for President would upset the applecart, as the election would become a chance for Democrats to express opposition to him.

Got it! When I read, “I voted for Walker,” I was like, “Okay, gross, but now I’ll get to read someone’s rationale for voting for such a trash fire,” and then you started talking about litterboxes, and I was super confused. Thank you for clarifying!

(I’ve not faced that rumor directly, but it’s been levied against our local high school. Someone pointed out that with highschoolers all having cameras the absence of a single picture of a litterbox in a bathroom was as certain a proof as you could get of anything outside of mathematics).

This make a while lot of sense. I hadn’t thought of it that way, but it sounds exactly like something Trumpty Dumpty would think. The only any ant that picnic is the fact that he endorsed Walker, hand-picked him, in fact, and his ego would probably not let him ignore that little detail. If it was a garden-variety non-MAGA republican, though, your logic would be unassailable.

I suspect they’re racists who went to vote against Stacey Abrams and couldn’t bring themselves to vote for a black senator. I’m a little surprised that there were fewer than 20,000 of them though.

Trump won’t back anyone now who isn’t sure to win. His ego can’t take backing another loser.

[tangent]The false rumor was that litter boxes was for students who identified as cats. I believe that one high school – Columbine – had litter boxes as part of their active-shooter-lock-down planning[/tangent]

But that would also have been true of the November 8 election, so regarding the runoff I am unsure what difference this makes.

Hard to say if it’s “likely.” Maybe more of a coin flip. It look likely Kelly will take Arizona and the cognoscenti (Ralston et al) seem to be leaning slightly towards Cortez Masto pulling it out in Nevada based on the remaining outstanding vote.

Probably won’t know for sure for a few days in NV, but I think I might hold off on voting on this poll until then. I think Warnock at this point, but you’re right if control of the Senate is an issue it is a whole different ballgame.

Speaking only for myself, if I were going to shit in a school I wouldn’t bother with a litter box.

Yeah, but Trump also has a history of throwing people under the bus. “I pulled out all the stops for him, and he still couldn’t beat that Very Bad and Weak Commie Socialist; I never even met him, the people who begged me to endorse him really screwed up…”

Imagine what it would do to Trump’s weak-ass ego, endorsing him a second time and he still loses?

I agree. I think Trump sits this one out. If Walker wins, he’ll take credit for it but if he loses, it’ll be “Herschel Who?”

100%!..
“I think if they win, I should get all the credit, and if they lose, I should not be blamed at all,”

I voted Warnock in the poll. Special Elections are all about motivated voters. I think a hellofalot of voters votes straight Republican because they’ve always voted straight Republican, and that’s the kind of voter who can’t be bothered to get up off of the couch to vote.
