Who is singing in the "Real Men of Genius" ads? (Bud Lite)

There’s a whole series of ads for Bud Lite called “Real Men of Genius” that salutes various silly folk: Way Too Much Cologne Wearer Guy, etc. The singer is doing a better than passable 80’s pop/rock/ballad voice. Who is that guy?

We salute you, Mr. 80’s rock tight pants singer guy!

I heard an interview with the two guys who write and perform these bits during a baseball game last season. The guy who does the vocals is Jim Peternik.

More importantly, Jim Peterik was the original lead singer for the '80s band Survivor (“Eye of the Tiger”). I heard an interview on a local radio station with him and the guy who does the announcer part of those commercials.

The former lead singer from… uh… Dang.

Foreigner? Some early 80’s band.

According to Love Line and my memory, he was friends with the guy who was producing the ads, and he was talking to him (the singer) and mentioned they were looking for a total hair band guy.

He reminded him (the ad guy) that he WAS a hair band guy, and got the part.

Apparently he has a lot of fun with them, from what I can recall of the interview.

That’s the same guy in the “Mighty Wingman” TV commercials, right? Sheer genius.

Survivor (with the same singer) is also in the Starbucks commercial where they follow the young businessman through his day, playing rousing rock theme music wherever he goes. “One day he’ll become… SUPERVISOR!”

“Roy! Roy, Roy, Roy!”

I know the song in the ad used “Eye of the Tiger”, but wasn’t that the second singer? He was the one who sang on the album that included “I Can’t Hold Back” and “The Search is Over”. I haven’t seen the ad in a while, so I could be wrong.

I wasn’t clear. What I meant was, “I know the song in the ad was “Eye of the Tiger”, but I think the guy in the ad was the second singer.”

It was the second singer, according to the radio interview I heard with the first singer (the guy who does the aforementioned Bud Light commercials).
