Who is that spanish language actor? The one with the little moustache.

When I go channel surfing, if Telemundo, Azteca or Univision is showing what looks to be a movie that was originally a theater released film, there is almost always the same guy, with 2 little points of a moustache, in seemingly every show. I’ve seen him in 1940’s looking black and white releases as well as stuff that looks like it may have been made in the '80’s. I can very slowly read some spanish, but I can’t translate the spoken word quickly enough to even figure out the character names this guy has played.

If you know his name, can you tell me anything else about him? Stuff like was he popular or did he own the studio? That sort of thing.

Cantinflas?

Pic!

He’s a boy. From Brazil.

Hee hee. Too much eggnog!

From what I remember from high school Spanish, Cantinflas was so embedded in Mexican culture that there was even a word cantinflar, which meant to act the clown.

And in politics, the mucho Mexican term Cantinflism[o]: applied to bombastic political speeches that say nothing. IIRC it originated from the Cantinflas movie “if I were a deputy” (Si yo fuera diputado)

That’s the guy!

Thanks all.
