Just wondering…
It seems like the majority of Dopers are from larger urban areas (I may be wrong) but who is really “out there”…in the tundra, in the middle of “nowhere”…
It would be interesting to hear where you all are.

This one might take a bit longer to get an answer than average
Well, magic8ball is way up in Yellowknife, NT, according to her profile, and on the Dopers of the World map there’s one in South Africa.
Any of you Antarctic researchers logging in?
Closest McDonalds? 97 miles.
Closest Wal-Mart? 167 miles.
Yeah, I’m pretty isolated. And I like it that way.
Have you written your Manifesto yet?
I’m a shut-in. Does that count?
I’m pretty sure Watermelon Man, besides being a complete sweetie, is our only Doper in Istanbul.
Not only should it count, I think you should get extra points for that.
I can’t get cable TV.
I live in a Perth, Western Australia. Perth is a fairly populous city, but apparently the most isolated in the world.
The closest “city” to Perth is Adelaide, some 2800 kilometres to the east.
Yeah, but at least 1 other doper lives in Perth so you’re out of the running. Now me, I live in Brisbane!
Sitting at my computer, I look out over about 50 acres of cotton. My nearest neighbor is about 100 yards away and we have a volunteer fire department (also no cable TV). Not really isolated, but surely not urban, either.
Hey, I know that Princhester at least – there could be others too – lives in the Brisbane.
Why, yes, I have. However, I’m having trouble getting it published by any of the major dailies. Got any ideas?
Not Constantinople? Damn’ now I have that song stuck in my head, AGAIN. :smack:
I’m 250 miles from the closest Trader Joe’s, and off the beaten concert path. Isolated enough for me (or too isolated, as the case may be).
35 Kms from the Arabian Gulf. Across a few sand dunes. In the path of the Iraqi No fly zone so we hear the sorties twice a day.
Pretty dusty here:cool:
Primaflora does too… I was joking :). I’d rather be in Sydney.
One by one they’ll all come around.
Bah! I live farther away than 250 miles from a Trader Joe’s! I’d LOVE to live only 250 miles from a Trader Joes!!!
I’m sure I live a lot further than 250 miles from a trader joes, but a short walk from a McD’s, KFC, Pizza Hut, Hard Rock Cafe, Starbucks and Paulaner
