Who Is The Ultimate Lurker?

Am I in the running?

Oh yeah, I’m a lurker. Someday I’m going to let loose with a boatload of posts. Someday.

um…me too…someday

May of 1999 and this should be post 15 for me. Some/most of those 15 posts were fairly stupid in nature. Additionally, my lurking goes back to the old Straight Dope on AOL days.

I don’t know why I don’t post more often. I have a lot to offer on many things, I think. However, it has been very interesting to sit back and watch the social system of the SDMB develop. To see how this enviroment and the people in it have changed. Posters come and go, they change. See how this all impacts some peoples real life. Heck, I’ve observed the rise and fall of “Satan”!

So, will I give up lurking? I don’t really know. Should I?

I might count, i love reading the boards, but only comment once in a while

“Lurker” is such an ugly term, how about…lets come up a new term…

anyway, bye for now

There was a time where I could have won this hands now, but after two years I finally worked up the initiative to post more often.

Consider me de-lurkified.

I’ve got too big a mouth to lurk, whether or not I’ve got something of interest to say.

I don’t understand lurkers, why be shy?

I’ve got a million questions and theories I wonder about. I’ve only scratched the surface so far.

Sorry…Wrong number!

Heck, you and I aren’t even close to some of these “lurkers”
I like being considered lurkier though.

While it looks like Mr. Child technically beats me, I seem to remember posting to a few of these lurker threads over the years, so can I take those off my count? I also go back to the old AOL board. The reason my registration date is in May of 1999, instead of March is that I spent a few months lurking on misc.facts.straight-dope instead. I even voted for its creation. Is it still active at all? Occasionally I’ll still pop in and lurk on the remanent of the AOL board, which I still have bookmarked. Seems to be rather slow of late, however.

Wait! Wait! I want to enter.

I wanna play! I think I have somewhere around 10 posts, so this might be 11. I registered last century too, so that makes for a pretty good date/post count combo.

As they come into the second turn it’s Schizm by a nose, shroomfish back by half a length with Mr. Child and masafer close on their heels.

Well, I’m not going to win or anything, but the shoe certainly fits.

Meanwhile lurking by a stone in the mud, Two eyes looked to see what I was, and then something spoke and this is what
it said to me…

Not sure what my stats are, but I think I qualify as a lurker.

Another old AOL lurker here. To prove it, I can remember how MPSIMS first got its name.

I mostly lurk because I just don’t really have the time to get into the discussions. I just like to skim and enjoy the hilarity and wisdom seen on this board.

And when I do post, it seems like I’m often a thread-killer. Hope I don’t murder this thread!

do I lose lurker status if i post?

I’m so relieved that there are even lurkier people than me around!!!

I registered a long time ago as Kingsnake. Since then I only lurked (is that a word?). It’s been so long that I have since forgotten my password. Rather than go through the whole process of getting a new password, (I don’t even remember what email address I used) I figured I would just re-register.

In short, I’ve been reading since I’ve could (never joined AOL) on the web. But I don’t have the time to get involved with some of the discussions on the board.

I think you hit it on the nose.
I’d like to see Cecil (or even the staff reporters) answer some of the GQ questions. They have some good things come up there, but few reliable answers. Often quite contradictory information. The forum title says Cecil might answer, but it seems he never goes there.
