And what it “really is”, is evil. Yes, some people do good in Christianity’s name, but they are perverting it by doing so ( which is why they tend to be bad at doing good ). You can be a bad person and a good Christian, or a good person and a bad Christian, but not a good person and a good Christian. Because being a good Christian IS being a bad person.

Since many elements of the Jesus story are culled from earlier myths, I find it entirely plausible that somebody else thought up the same basic religion with some other guy as the central figure. The only reason I did it anyway, is because it’d have 18 months with no interest, which I could easily pay off, and probably way sooner at that, then just cancel the card or somethin’. But, we did go back to Tianna’s home, when I awoke, I had a new found ambition to find another TV that’s worth 1,000. I found another one for about 1,300.

What George W. Bush did he though was the best thing to do. He may claim to be a Christian, and who am I to say he isn’t? What W. does is between him and God. I don’t believe he did the right thing by starting a war that cannot be won… terrorism CANNOT be defeated with terrorism. To me, what W. did was nothing more than terrorism. Many innocent lives were taken and the man who is considered responsible for the 9/11 attacks is supposedly still at large. What have we accomplished?
I won’t doubt W.'s claim as being a Christian… but if he says God told him to start war and he’s doing it in the name of Christ than Bush is not following Christ’s example and it would be wrong for him to make those claims.
I am not a better Christian than he. I don’t believe I am better than anyone. I think he could have set a better example and gone about things differently… but when it all comes down to the knitty-gritty, this war was started over oil and because of corruption in the system… trying to defeat terrorism was used as a scapegoat.

I have agreed with you that there are corrupt Christians and religions… but there is plenty of corruption in the governments we trust to lead and guide us to a better future. There are also Christians who truly do their absolute best to live a life of Charity and peace… just that are people in the government who do their best to better society. There is corruption in everything and anything… but there are also pure and honest and caring motives.
People doing good in the name of Christ don’t want to take credit for their well meanings. How is that perverting a good work? They are doing exactly what they should. It’s like… they recognize charity as a gift of God and give God the credit. Give credit to whom credit is due.
Any true Christian recognizes that fact that “there is none good but God” (words of Jesus). A true Christian is NEVER satisfied with how “good” they are acting or being because they recognize that they could do more and do better. A true Christian will admit that they are still a sinner, but forgiven by grace. Being a good Christian doesn’t make anyone a good person… it makes them holy and godly… but a true Christian won’t brag about being “good” or holy… they see it as just doing the job they were given.

Not true. The Bible speaks of false prophets and that they “worship God with their words but their heart is far from Him”.
If someone claims to be a Christian, and goes on a killing spree in the name of Christ and is singing hymns while killing people, that person is not a Christian. If that person commits those crimes, and eventually feels remorse and repents of that sin, sure, that person can go to Heaven… but I’m telling you… some people claim to be Christian so they can receive benefits in this life. There are PLENTY of televangelists who have perverted the word and truth for worldly gain-- “Give your money to this church and God will give you a place in Heaven”… “Give this church money because it’s my payroll and I need a new yacht… God will forgive you of your sins if you do”… etc.
The point of Christianity is to follow the example Christ set. The point of Christianity is to prove that there is a way to overcome death, and eternal life is available to all who believe and call on the name of Christ. Sure, some people have never heard of Christ, but God is the judge of a man’s soul and heart. God was aware that people would die never hearing about Jesus… God isn’t merciless and hateful. God’s judgment is righteous. I’m sure that plenty of people who have never heard about Jesus will live eternally with God.
You can look at Jesus like this… anyone who believes in Jesus and follows the examples set by him have him as their defense lawyer on the day of judgment. Satan will accuse Christians of all the horrible, awful, unspeakable things that they did and will tell God that they have no reason to be in Heaven. Jesus will say “God, Father, these people have done some wrong, but I find them innocent because they put their faith in me and they repented of their wrong doings and lived to their best ability a life of charity and peace, not for their own glory, but so glory would be brought to Your Name”.
Anyone who doesn’t put their faith in Christ, but had the opportunity, will be judged based on their works… now good works alone won’t save you, but God is the righteous judge, and God will not be fooled by the hearts of men which HE created. For a Christian to claim “if you don’t believe in Jesus you are going to Hell” is WRONG. God alone is the judge of a man’s heart and soul. God alone has the right to allow and deny an eternal life in Heaven. A belief in Jesus is the ultimate security blanket… it’s not supposed to be used to live a life of sin and get away with it and still get into Heaven… but to know, without doubt, that you have a place in Heaven reserved for you because God is loving, forgiving, and merciful.
