Who Lives in a Pineapple Under the Sea?

Come on, Rachelle. As Persephone said, you’ve gotta suspend your disbelief!! Besides, why aren’t you questioning the fact that Gary meows, and SpongeBob talks??

F is for Friends that do stuff together. U is for U and Me. N is anywhere and anytime at all. (Scallops - Down here in the deep blue sea.)

F is for Fire that burns down the whole town, U 's for Uranium!..Bombs! N is for no survivors-----(when your having fun!)

F is for frolic through all the flowers, U is for ukelele(you-ka-lay-lee) N is for nose-pickin’ sharin’ gum and sand lickin’ (scallops- "Down here with my best buddy!)

I should have known. I should have KNOWN! I wouldn’t be alone in my Spongebob worship. I tried not to like it, honest I did, as a good TV-limiting mom and wanted to say “Rugrats and no more!” But it sucked me in. Just call me pourous and yellow. Hubbie too. We spent the drive home Sunday night, kiddies asleep in the backseat, discussing various episodes.

I love the one where Spongebob is trying to get his license, and Mrs. Puff explodes like an airbag every time he crashes. I was in stitches in the Clamu one. The name alone did it.

I want a Patrick toy!

In fact I love most of the Nickelodian shows. How is it we all grew up to be cartoon junkies? Couldn’t be all those old Bugs Bunny I sat glued to, every afternoon after school, and all Saturday morning, could it?

That’s the only one I, I mean babyjesus doesn’t have.

I saw a new SBSP the other day. He’s making some sorta food concoction and has run out of peanuts.

SB says, “I know where I can get some!” as the commode comes into focus. Suddenly, SB is standing on the commode saying, “Lucky I planted the peanuts!” as he takes a clay pot out the window.

I’m ready. I’m ready. I’m ready, eady, eady!

Oh, and the dream one? When SB goes into people’s dreams.

Or Squidward the Unfriendly Ghost- that absolutely cracked me up, when Spongebob and Patrick are panicking about “killing” Squidward. And Squidward coming out of the shower looking all ghost like. Wonderful.

I also just saw the one where Spongebob accompanies Pearl to the prom. Hehe. I loved that dummy thing!

That alone is reason enough Nickelodeon needs to start issuing videotaped collections for us people who no longer have cable.

How about the one where SB and Patrick ignore all warnings and go pester Sandy while she’s hybernating? They usually have to wear water tanks on their heads when they go into her bubble, but since it’s winter and snowing – and snow of course is made of water – they can breathe.

I think the illogical logic is part of the fun!

Yay Spongebob’s the coolest  I think the episode with the peanuts is the one where he gets really bad breath but he thinks he’s turned ugly cause everyone runs away from him.

My favorite episode is the bubble stand one, where he charges 25 cents to blow bubbles.

The Procedure for blowing the Perfect Bubbles
Spin around, Stop!
Double-take 3 times (1, 2, 3)
Now… PELVIC THRUST! (whooooooo!)
Stop on your right foot, DON’T FORGET IT!
Now it’s time to bring it around town. Bring it a-round town!
Then you do this… and this… and thisandthatandthisandthisandthat and THEN
::Blows really cool bubble::

P.S. I want a Gary :stuck_out_tongue:

Just be careful you don’t get a Larry.

I am a cartoon fiend. I watch nick and CN all the time. I remember getting really exitied when they started talking about this new show coming up. Made sure I was home and watched it and fell in love. It is so unique and surreal.

I think the best ones are the Valentine’s day episode. The whole time Patrick was looking at his hand I was just laughing and laughing. And the second is the one where, coming home from glove world, they get on the wrong bus and go to Rock Bottom. And then there’s the one where Squidward buys an exploding pie and he thinks Spongebob eats it and then spends the day with him, hooee.

Although personally I think some of the later episodes aren’t quite up to snuff. They seem a little … like it’s lost it’s edge. Seems like a lot of toon have that happen to it lately, Rugrats, Dexter’s Lab etc. etc. But I still think it’s one of the best shows out there.

What I want to see in the future – I really want to see more of the underwater. More Rock Bottom, and other places. I’m really happy that we’re getting to see more of Spongebob’s family, like his parents and his grandmother.

Ooh ooh, and I love his curses, I even use them in real life situations now. Barnacles!!! Tartarsauce!!!

Spongebob has entered my lexicon too Jinxie. When I put sunscreen on my children I tell them to “drop on the deck and flop like a fish.” (Mom hint #412: Kids are easier to lotion when they’re prone.)

And this is the absolute truth: last night my 4-year-old son was blowing bubbles and I saw him doing some sort of hip swivel. I opened the back door in time to hear him say “Now it’s time to bring it around town. Bring it a-round town!”

It may be a little unrealistic to judge cartoons against the gold standard, Ren and Stimpy but Spongebob is pretty darn funny. I watched most of last night’s episode when Bob was distraught about being ugly but overlooking his bad breath.

There are some excellent cartoons out these days on cartoon network. Has any one see Samurai Jack? It’s epic without losing its 'toon sensibility. Genndy Tartakovsky
could be the heir apparent to Akira Kurosawa and Sergio Leone.

Yes!
We watch Spongebob all the time.
I prefer Patrick myself.
I like the episode, Big Pink Loser where Patrick has to try to win an award, for anything.
He tries to get the lid off the jar. “Do exactly like I do…”
Also the Maniac one.
“The maniacs IN the Mailbox!!!”

I was almost done with TV shows I set my life by but then this comes along. It is awesome!

I second you on Samurai Jack. I watched the original movie more out of curiosity. Now I’m hooked. It’s amazing, not only for the interesting drawing techniques and use of split-screen images, but I can see an entire mythos arising from the stories. Hope the writing stays sharp on that one.

As for Spongebob, he’s a great favorite in our house too. My son especially loves, “It’s a giraffe!”

When he’s changing for bed and I’m standing outside his closed bedroom door (we’re learning about modesty and privacy), I call, “Are you ready yet?” He says no, then I wait a couple of seconds and ask, “Are you ready now?” He says no, and I immediately ask, “How about now?” He tells me to quit acting like Spongebob.

Not to hijack this thread any, but does it strike anyone that a lot of the new crop of cartoons on Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon are written more for college-age and older people than for kids? There was one Dexter’s Lab that lampooned Speed Racer, and my wife and I were killing ourselves laughing. Our son enjoyed it, but obviously didn’t appreciate it.

I think they try to make it funny for both the naive and the educated. I remember Chucky Finster in an awestruck ‘Heart of Darkness’ manor muttering to himself ‘The Horah, the horah.’ With my apologies to my Jewish friends but I laughed and there’s no way in heck that anyone under, say, 14 will get that. And maybe not thank.

I [raspberry] do [raspberry] agree [raspberry] and [raspberry] think that [raspberry] it [raspberry] works[raspberry] really well [raspberry] and I [raspberry] hope they [raspberry] keep it [raspberry] up [raspberry][raspberry][raspberry].

My leg!

Also the Spongebob episode where Squidward pulls a joek on SB and he cries and everyone acts mad at Squid…as they’re leaving one fish looks at him in disgust and says, “April Fools…jerk!”

ANyone also love the Dexters lab one where he thought he was dying, and then he just let out a big fart?

I love spongebob!!! I love tom kenny!!! He was great as heffer on rocko’s modern life & I love it when he’s the sea captain.
I hate that I missed the samurai jack movie, But I’m sure I can catch it again…
small hijack here…
Has anyone heard about cartoon network’s adult swim?
It’s supposed to be on sundays @ 10 EST.
It has an interestg line up of toons aimed at the 18+ area…
I think it should be interesting…
Ok back to THE SPONGE!!!

The ridiculously name set this gem apart from most right away. I admit I was a bit reluctant to get on the bandwagon when SpongeBob premiered, after the few splotches of horrible new shows (I don’t wish to name them).

But one night, I caught a glimpse of Texas when Sandy lassoed Patrick and he exploded in a mushroom cloud. seizure

I want to tape his unique laugh and have it on repeat when I go to sleep.

I started watching it after I heard on another message board that there is an episode that guest-stars heavy metal band Pantera. I’ve yet to see that one, but the ones I have seen are pretty funny.
