I am currently looking to change my ISP since BT introduced their monthly usage limits. The highest monthly usage BT offer is 40GB, in the letter they sent to me after the introduction of these limits they informed me that with my level of usage I would be looking at around £90 excess charges per month if I continued to use their service. Obviously this is less than ideal so I am looking to jump ship to another ISP that provides the unlimited access BT used to provide. The trouble is that all of the ISPs that claim to offer unlimited access with no monthly limits have a “fair usage policy” that basically translates as: “You can use your connection as much as you like, as long as you don’t use it too much.”
So, do any Dopers out there know of a U.K. ISP that offers 2Mb broadband with true unlimited broadband and not the semi-unlimited deals offered by most?
I believe that eclipse (www.eclipse.co.uk) might do what you’re after (look at their FLEX option). I only have an unlimited connection at 1MB but have never had any problems with them.

The thread did degenerate into a shooting match between a couple of posters but there were a few ideas there.
One suggestion was to visit ADSL guide which I think is a good idea.
I’m with BT myself and I’m very pleased with it so far (6 years now) and you must be a very heavy user indeed to fall foul of them because they are on record as not enforcing small and occasional transgressions of usage abuse
Pipex have exactly that (their Solo service) - not as cheap as some, but in two and a half years, their service has been down just twice, so I’m happy… and they offer some good incentives to new customers.
