Who saw John McCain on SNL last night?

I’m sitting here busting a gut as John McCain sings Barbara Streisand’s greatest hits. Funny stuff. He was promoting his “new CD” of Streisand hits and promises that part of the proceeds would be used to damage Alaskan wildlife. He also had a part in a Lifetime movie parody.

Like Bob Dole, this sense of humor was nowhere to be seen in his run for president.

I liked his “interview” on Meet the Press.

“Will we see you running against a reanimanted Carter zombie in 2028?”

Hey, I think I’ve got a new sig.

I was watching a bit of SNL and I saw his pic- I couldn’t believe it was him! It’s so bizarre, watching presidential candidates, and former ones, on SNL…I mean, I know they’re a big part of the media. But entertaining (er, somewhat entertaining) media like SNL. Hm.

Was that him playing the digital art teacher on “Wake up, Wakefield”? Hehe. Charlie Rose.

I wonder, if Dole had shown how funny he was during the race, would he be president now?

I thought he was great. I wonder if this is going to kick off a new trend of politicians in office appearing on SNL?

I think what this showed, though, was that McCain doesn’t really give a crap about his ‘image’ any more. After all, he said a few things on there that a politician typically wouldn’t say. He knows he’s popular, he knows he’ll win elections for as long as he wants to run, and he doesn’t want to be president any more. So what’s he got to lose?

I remember hearing some rumblings that he may be in his last term as Senator.

I think if Dole had shown his real personality, the race may have been closer and electoral politics could have come into it.

Rudy Giuliani was better.

I also thought McCain was really good last night. The singing bit was classic. I thought he really loosened up, and it was refreshing to see. The Meet the Press bit was fantastic! Of course, I think that Darrell Hammond is the most talented cast member in over a decade…he makes most any skit funny.

Jman

I couldn’t believe he was doing it, but I thought he did pretty well. Very creepy as the “personal space invading” husband, and very funny singing Streisand.

Here in the DC area, the first half hour was pre-empted by coverage of the Sniper killer. What happened in the first half hour?

Of course, the best line.

“What if the President forgot to run for reelection…then would you declare your candidacy?”

“No, I would call the President and remind him to run.”

The meet the press skit was the best part of the show. But i liked McCain mocking Ashcroft as well. Too bad McCain isn’t prez now…

Oh yeah, McCain playing Ashcroft was really funny. He won’t rest until every American is in jail and under surveillance.

You might reacall just after the election dispute Bush Jr. and Al Gore appeared on the show “together” (shot seperately and merged together).
