Who should be the next host of "Jeopardy!"?

I think I’d rank my preferences LeVar Burton first, Ken Jennings second, and Mayim Bialik third. But I’d be happy with any of them, really.

And see:

Well that answers my question. That CNN article says they’ll have guest hosts starting tomorrow.

So I guess all the female politicians, generals, judges, doctors, etc. mean absolutely nothing.

AFAIK, Buzzy is still available. And he did a much better job than LaVar Burton. Or Ken Jennings, for that matter.

Did any of you Burton boosters actually watch his episodes? He was awful. Terrible. I can’t fathom how anybody could want him to be the host unless they don’t like Jeopardy.

And why can only about 50% of people spell his first name?

I agree. He was fun, without dominating the stage. Just the right amount of personality for the role.

To be honest, I thought most were perfectly acceptable.

Yes. He’s my top choice also.

And Buzzy’s eyes didn’t keep popping out, like LaVar’s. There were times when I thought he had an intermittent goiter.

I wish there were a way to express, phonetically, the overly-exuberant, high-pitched way Burton would exclaim “yes!” when a contestant got a clue right, just to remind everyone of how annoying it was.

I’m surprised Meredith Vieira hasn’t gueest hosted. She was very good on Millionaire.

She currently has a gig as a game show host, with a competing network. She’s been host of a syndicated game show, produced by Fox, called *25 Words or Less," since 2019.

I didn’t realize that show was still in production. Oh well, I’m glad she’s still working.

LeVar Burton wasn’t ideal during his brief run, I will concede, but I think he’d grow into the role.

You just being a contrarian, or do you actuallly believe women have achieved anything near equality in 2021?

I wonder if Coates would audition if offered, or if it’s now a bit of a poisoned chalice.

Ooo, how about this guy?:

He’s always been my first choice, even tho I was dreading his stint. I found him annoying as a contestant, but I thought he did an excellent job as host. I keep hoping…

This just in (NYT, paywalled): Mayim Bialik will fill in as a ‘Jeopardy!’ guest host.

Sony said on Monday that Ms. Bialik would host this week’s tapings of “Jeopardy!” in Culver City, Calif., 15 episodes in all. The company said it had resumed its search for a permanent replacement for Mr. Trebek, it but has not revealed a formal list of candidates.
“As we move forward with production on this season of ‘Jeopardy!’, additional guest hosts will be announced,” Sony said in a statement on Monday.

I was just pointing out, that – contrary to what you apparently believe – whether or not a woman is chosen to host a prominent game show is hardly a major sign of equality and progress or lack thereof.

So, women not being chosen equally for jobs is not an indicator of lack of equality. Oh kay.
