Ah, then you want Kyrsten Sinema, the female, openly bisexual, quasi-atheist from Arizona for VP.
Why not Hillary Clinton? It makes is another historic election (first female VP) and I believe there are a lot of people, including Mrs 2sense, who want to vote for a woman. Also Senator Sanders’ support looks really white and Ms Clinton has support with minorities. Also it signals to the Democratic Establishment that Bernie Sanders is a responsible candidate which opens up more resources for the general election.
Warren is from a moon bat state. I highly doubt her experience would translate to a national election.
Colin Powell. African American, crosses political lines, military experience, mainstream, huge name recognition.
Christine Todd Whitman. Female, crosses political lines, socially moderate/liberal.
What makes anyone think that Sanders wants to cross political lines? Is there anything in his history that suggests he’d want to do this? Any major legislation he’s sponsored with Republicans?
Powell’s too old and Whitman’s literally the exact opposite of Sanders in terms of politics.
What makes you think this is a prediction thread? It’s a thread about who he should choose. These were two that were interesting possibilities to me, considering what each brought to the ticket.
See for yourself.
Trump. That would wrap up the protest vote!!
Except in terms of age, heck Pelosi is a year older than Sanders. Bernie Sanders is definitely going to choose a much younger vice president.
No love for Byron Mallott?
Bill Gates, so he can say to the Trump supporters, HA my billionaire is richer than your billionaire
If I were President Bernie and Trump were my Veep, I would hire a food taster for my food taster.
From the link:
“The Leader was saying nice things about the work Senator Gillibrand and Senator Reid have done together over the last year and half, and made a joke referencing to the Hill article from earlier this year,” spokesman Matt Cantor said.
Gillibrand has been the victim of workplace sexual harassment and it must have taken some gritting of teeth for her office to issue that conciliatory comment. I like Harry Reid but you know what, Harry? It ain’t the 1930s any more!
Sanders’ pick, in the unimaginable event of a nomination, should be the usual strategy to balance the ticket. A conservative black man like Colin Powell might work except to the extent that Powell has been seriously damaged by the baggage from the GWB era.
I would love such a Popular Front ticket since it would definitely #trigger all the normies and shills and more importantly give Sanders a Yuuge source of funding.
No no, Powell is old, and a figure from the Bush administration. No way Sanders would pick him plus a black man is not needed by the Democrats, only the Republican.
There is no universe in which Bernie Sanders picks a Republican as a running mate.
I still think Clinton and Sanders are each others’ best choice.
We need Warren in the Senate.
Can Joe Biden run for VP again? I have no idea. Is there a term limit on VP?
I almost want to say Mike O’Malley. I know he’s a newcomer but he really wants it. I want a young guy, which is why I keep jumping past oldtimers like Bill Richardson.
There’s Greyson, but he’s a Revolutionaire, and we already have one.
One of the Cuomos? Someone outside of New England, I’d think …
I love the enthusiasm, but we’re still only two states in. A bit early to declare him the nominee, which is normally when this sort of decision starts getting batted around.
Michelle Obama, just to watch Republican heads explode.
I think he should pick Captain America. Sure, he’s a fictional character but you started us down this fantastical rabbit-hole it by positing a Bernie Sanders nomination.
