I probably should have put this in the pit to begin with, but let’s just say right now that if you have a problem with my political (or otherwise) opinions, just start a thread there and maybe I’ll respond or maybe not.
I only want to hear intelligent opinions of where MY political views would place ME among mainstream opinion. If I want to hear your views on each issue, I will ask for them.
Am I a staunch Republican? A bleeding heart liberal? A Marxiist? An Anarchist? I’m using harsh examples to illustrate the diversity of my views and how some of the things I say could be the rallying cry of distinctly opposing parties (I think…?).
I basically consider myself a Republican, but a few my of opinions are precsisely the opposite of what I hear most right wingers preach.
I once heard a guy on the radio in Chicago (no clue who said it) say that he was a Social Libertarian and an Economic Conservative.
That sounded good. Is there a party for that? I don’t know. Maybe I’m an Imperialist.
Anyway, without further adieu, and in no particular order, my political viewpoints:
Basically, I trust my government. I believe we (USA) have the smartest, most educated, most loyal people in the world making the most difficult decisions, and that after serious and informed consideration, they will make the choice that is in the best interest for us, the Citizens of the United States of America.
This is a good thing. /martha
For the benefit of ourselves and the entire world, we should remove Saddam Hussein from power, even without UN backing.
If we do affect a regime change in Iraq without UN backing, we will have enough of an international coalition to avoid a world crisis, however there would be consideral backlash.
That backlash would be acceptable and easily overcome.
We have the resources to defeat terrorism the world over.
I am not religious.
I am pro-abortion. Not just pro-choice, I think people should be having less children the world over. (yes contraception is a better alternative)
I am anti RIAA.
I am pro-pornography.
I believe all drugs should be legalized. The money spent on the “war” would be much better spent on education and counseling. Regulation is a better answer.
I think that while inner city housing projects are bad, the recent methodology (at least in Chicago) of dispersing the gangbangers throughout the city into more affluent neighborhoods is even worse.
I am pro-prostitution. (regulated like drugs)
I want the USA to remain the only world superpower. (include here the most wealth, best lifestyle, and most political influence)
I want the USA to continue to be a champion of human rights, justice, and light, the world over.
I want the “church” of scientology to lose it’s official status as a tax-exempt religion and to be publically rebuked as an evil, greedy, cult.
I hate hippies.
Especially the ones who rioted for the fun of it in Washington and Seattle without any knowledge of what they were protesting. (globalization is bad. uhh what is globalization again?)
Even more especially the “starving artists” in my neighborhood who protested “The Real World” because after all, that signifies “gentrification”. (uhh having “The Real World” here did NOT increase your already too low rent)
I had no problem whatsoever with Bill Clinton’s blowjob.
Lower taxes.
Less government pork.
Less welfare.
Affirmative action is immoral and illegal.
When guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns.
Israel has every right to preemptive military action in order to defend itself from foreign agressors and terrorists who claim that “Israel has no right to even exist”.
Better border security, ie. fewer illegal immigrants, more stringent laws, better enforcement, stricter penalties.
More “TCB in a flash”, less pussy-footing around.
America rules, the rest drool.
I could and will think of more… but I think I probably made my views clear…
Please feel free to ask how I feel about other issues before telling me which group I belong in, however, please refrain from using terms like “asshole”, “prick”, and/or “idiot”.
Thank you. I plan to vote for Bush again. Am I still a Republican? I mean, I don’t want to throw my vote away.
