Who should play Tim Walz on SNL?

It should be someone from Minnesota. Someone that Minnesota voted into office. And someone who has been on SNL. So how about Al Franken?

What are they going to make fun of about Walz, though? He doesn’t even have one of those outrageous Fargo accents. Surely, the more important question is who will play Vance. Is there already a thread?

Likely nothing. SNL’s depictions of Hillary, Biden, and Harris have been played a bit larger than life, poking fun at their opposition.

I could see some fun skits pitting The Dad against weird & creepy Vance.

I don’t care if we want to talk about who will play Vance here or in a new thread. Up to youse guys.

The New York Times has an article on this issue and mentions that Taran Killam, Zach Galifianakis, Jason Sudeikis, Haley Joel Osment or Michael Longfellow have been suggested for Vance.

Oh no, I really like Longfellow. I’m not sure I want to see him play such a creep.

I supposed the guy who played Ellis in Diehard would be too old to play Vance.

Taran Killam wouldn’t have to change anything to play CF Vance. I’m not sure he isn’t Vance.

I’ve said that Vance looks like Will Wheaton when he gains weight. This discombabulates me a bit. Will would be good. He can play a jerk pretty well.

That is definitely the comedy angle. Walz’s speech writers/staffers already see it and are getting traction. Comedy can easily become a deceptively powerful political message, no one but no one wants to be ‘effectively’ ridiculed. That is why swearing is always so lame, it’s unspecific, but you remember the Middle School burn you received over 3 decades ago about the color of your shoe laces.

I think having the two of them in any of the quiz show sketches with a childless woman between them writes itself.

Especially if there’s also a cat.

Okay, so where have I been? I recently saw something about new photos of him having lost weight and I looked at a few. There were some headlines earlier in the year about him talking about his weight loss. But checking he did indeed lose 80lbs in 2010.

I thought I had seen clips of him lots of times in the last 14 years and didn’t notice anything before.

I apparently don’t follow celeb news all that much lately. Maybe a good thing if I remember that?

Jeopardy! fan favorite contestant Sam Buttrey is a dead ringer for Steve Martin, especially the smile IMO. Just sayin’.

He should play himself. Think of the bump to the campaign!

Oh, no! Equal time regulations would require offering the same opportunities for JD Vance to appear on SNL. I do not want to see JD Vance doing sketch comedy!

Tim Heidecker is my pick for JD Vance. Or John Gemberling if Tim isn’t available.
