World Eater, PL’s got a point. You can’t celebrate her leaving and then criticize her for going. Pick one and stick with it. Besides, if she had stuck around and tried to defend herself, she’d have just been inviting a pile-on of the kind of insults she was already fed up with. And, no, it’s not bitchy to leave a place where you’re regularly insulted, ridiculed, and treated with little or no respect.
I thought a lot of her opinions were pretty assinine, but **WV_woman had as much right to post them as anyone else on here had to insult her.
Oh, and ArchitectChore, please don’t tell anyone else you’re going to UK. Your rudeness and lack of compassion are an embarrassment to my school, my city, and my state.

ZeGirl I really do think it is cool that you are both on here. I couldn’t imagine my Mom lasting too long at the Dope, she just got a computer last year. I had to tell her (numerous times) that typing in all caps is greatly frowned upon.

I will admit that I was a little harsh with my opinion, but I am a little sensitive about comments of this type. One was made about my mother, a West Virginian, by a relative by marriage, who is a displaced WV resident. As soon as I see him face to face, I intend to give him my opinion. Fully. And loudly.
ArchitectChore, I don’t know you, but from the content of your posts you seem to be an intellegent person. I don’t agree with your opinion of WV_Woman, but I will respect your right to state it. Seeing as she is not currently a member, I guess the point is probably moot, but there it is.

Here was my only and sole problem with WV_Woman - when she made her opinions known as was her “right” to (the Moderators would strongly disagree that anyone has a “right” to make any and all opinions known here), she very often did it in the form of popping into a thread, making a statement that demanded discussion, debate, or controversy, then left. Never to return, except possibly to make another off-the-cuff statement.
This was my only exposure to her in the threads where I noticed her, and it is very rude and obnoxious behavior - regardless of whatever the actual view or opinion was.
She could have had a lot more defenders, and a lot less critics, if she would not have done things like this.
You know, I got a couple of e-mails from people exclaiming “Anth - why the hell were you defending WV_Woman in that birthday thread? Don’t you know she hates lesbians like yourself?”
Well, no, I didn’t know that, but it wouldn’t have changed me posting in the thread, nor defending the birthday thread.
Birthdays should be one special day when anyone who is not a criminal or monster should be given one chance. One chance to receive well-wishes without being attacked or having snide remarks made towards them. More than a year ago someone attacked my birthday thread as a joke (for which they honestly and forthrightly apologized), but at the same time several people also attacked me in the Pit over it (who are filthy scum and would never apologize over it).
It was a cowardly, disgusting, and bullying thing to do, and it made me very angry. And I saw a repeat of that happening again, so I decided to step in and try to derail it.
Not that WV_Woman herself gave a shit about my defense, or my well-wishes. :rolleyes: But then, for more than two years here now people have jokingly called me “Saint Una of the Lost Causes”.

Forget that, Wring: She’s already got a seat reserved for her in the “Conservative-but not a raving psycho” section. She’s pro-Second Amendment, so we got first dibbies. And our food is better: none of that sissy “white wine and Brie” stuff. We got meat. Big, drippy slabs of steak, corn-on-th’-cob slathered in butter, hell, for Anth, we’ll even barbeque a spotted owl for her!
