Why limit ourselves to modern Japan? Wouldn’t it be fun to stroll through a garden in Kyoto during the period of the Tokugawa shogunate? Isn’t the world our virtual oyster throughout the ages? Why not a red sand zen garden in the future, after the Japanese have terraformed Mars? Wouldn’t you like to see the sun set behind Olympus Mons while 2 moons hang in the sky?
