And she lived in Montreal from 12 to 18 years old, moving with her mother when her mother moved there to work as a researcher at Montreal’s Jewish General Hospital and to teach at McGill University. She started college at Vanier College in Montreal then transferred to Howard.
Harris has intersectional identities and has embraced being a Black woman from early in her life. Still I see her intersectionality as the epitome of what it means to be American!
Vance is not completely making her Canadian childhood up whole cloth.
He’s making it sound like she’s from Canada. I moved from California to Washington when I was slightly older than she was, but I wouldn’t consider myself to be Washingtonian - I’m a Californian transplant. He’s trying to other her and imply that she’s a foreigner and not a Real American™.
There is photographic and witness proof of him drinking alcohol. He may well drink only on rare occasions, and in moderation, but he certainly isn’t a lifelong teetotaler.
Sounds likely - IF he does. I said in some thread that I’m betting his plan will be to make Vance resign, claiming the Dems were saying too many racist things about his wife.
Years ago, my sister served champagne to his table as a cater-waiter at a dinner function in NYC. Trump then called her over and said he wanted another bottle. My sister, having no idea who he was, refused and said he’d have to wait until the next course came along like everyone else. She said he was very pissed off, but she ignored him and walked back to the kitchen.
In grad school I had a reputation for falling asleep under tables at parties. I wasn’t a huge drinker. I was just…tired (16 hour days in the lab will do that).
That being said, i’m all for throwing every last bit of shit at JD that we can. If this sticks, well, it’s stupid, but it sticks. Hurt the mofo with every stone and pebble we can grab.
I’ve long been fed up with the Dems playing (bad) defense. It’s refreshing to go on offense for once.
End up as VP to a very elderly President with poor health habits who doesn’t support you, yes. If we’re getting to the point where Vance is being asked to step down, then all of his possible futures include the party not supporting him. One of them involves the party being less vocal about that fact, and putting him in a position where their support likely doesn’t even matter.
I could see Trump forcing his VP pick to sign a waiver saying that in the event of Trump’s death, the VP does not become President. I know this is not remotely realistic but I can see Trump doing it anyway. This is the same guy who stayed awake during a medical procedure to avoid having Mike Pence become President for a few minutes.
