Who wins Survivor?

I am speculatingJeremy thinks he is safe at the vote tonight, but then feels vulnerable when Wentworth plays her idol.

Here’s that 6:50 PM snapshot:

What a crazy tribal council. One for the ages.

It was Jeremy.

Ugh. My DVR screwed up right at the begging of the last IC and skipped to the end. So I missed the IC and the last TC. How the hell did Jeremy beat Spencer? Did something happen in the last 15 minutes to make him the “sole survivor”? I thought Spencer played the better game by leaps and bounds.

So where is everybody???

Jeremy played the “I’m doing this for my family! sobbing Oh and I have another baby on the way! cry” card and the jury got all emotional. You could see on their faces they were gonna give it to him then.

Just finished watching. Strong finish to a strong season. I’d still say Heroes vs Villains was my favorite, though.

Pretty crazy on the drawing rocks thing… I had completely forgotten the rule change that the people who were originally voted for were safe from the rock drawing. Combine that with HIIs and suddenly Keith is forced into changing his mind. In a way Kimmi had herself to blame though… if she sticks with her group, she’s in the final four. I still think the other three likely vote her out, though.

The last IC was the “put the balls in the curved tube” where they have to catch the balls when they exit and place them back in the top, and keep adding additional balls. Spencer kinda screwed himself up, putting too many balls close together, and eventually wasn’t able to keep up, so Jeremy won immunity. The three voted out Wentworth despite some heated back-and-forth between her and Spencer about who had a better chance of winning. At the final TC, most people ignored Tasha (unsurprisingly) and addressed their questions to Jeremy and Spencer. After the last question, Jeremy got emotional and told everyone that Val was pregnant. Probably got him a huge sympathy vote… it wouldn’t surprise me if Jeremy still would’ve won without it, but I don’t think it would be a 10-0 clean sweep.

I wonder if Wigglesworth was just really bitter about the producers trying to keep up her “when I lost the first Survivor by one vote” story and tried to get back at them with her dumb TC question…

I’m still not seeing how Jeremy played a better game that Spencer. Maybe I missed something, but it was’t even close.

I should also mention - in the heated back-and-forth between Spencer and Kelley, Spencer told Jeremy “if you vote me out of the game, I will vote for Kelley to win and try to make sure everyone else does too.” Basically came on far too strong, and probably turned a lot of the jury against him … and anyone else still on the fence was probably swayed by Jeremy’s “baby on the way” story.

I definitely think you can make an argument Jeremy played a better game… he was never really in danger of getting voted out (as Spencer was many times), found and used two Idols, and won the very important final immunity. Certainly close between the two, though… Spencer might well have saved Jeremy’s ass in the Kimmi TC by ‘dropping the bomb’ and calling her out.

Jeremy made his own subtle moves, too. Getting Keith and Kelley to vote for Spencer when Kelley had immunity, for example - it got the target off him and onto Spencer, and he could stick true to his alliance with Spencer without worrying if Keith’s idol was real or not (since Spencer would go home if it was).

Spencer got a number of negative comments at FTC. I think three people called him “arrogant”
A 10-0 vote suggests more than just a sympathy vote

Well, I guess going for sympathy can be considered part of the “social game”. I wonder how Jeremy would’ve done against Wentworth. Mainly I’m pissed at my crappy DVR. It’s been doing this too much lately-- going along fine, and then suddenly skipping to the end without any way of recapturing the missed material. Time for a visit to COMCAST to get a new one.

John Mace, you can catch what you missed on cbs.com/survivor.

I have really mixed feelings about the finale. It was a great episode…that final six TC! Wow! And Jeremy is a very worthy and deserving winner. But darn it, I wanted Spencer to win, and it was painful to watch him torpedo his own game like that.

I wanted him to win, but I understand why he didn’t. Way too arrogant, should have targeted Jeremy way back. Should have taken the “she’s a bigger threat than I am” approach to get Kelley out instead of the “if you take her I’m going to see that she wins” route.

I feel like my favorite team just lost the Superbowl, after fumbling the ball in overtime. Great game, disappointing result.

Yeah, I think as much as he tried to change it, Spencer’s social game just wasn’t very strong. One thing that’s pretty consistent is that juries will vote for a strong strategic game full of backstabs, etc, but they generally won’t vote for someone they actively dislike.

Spencer’s moves at the last two tribals (calling out/threatening both Kimmi and Kelley) were not taken very well, it seems, and I don’t think you could say anybody on the jury actually liked him as a person. Jeremy and Tasha did, but it doesn’t really do much good to be respected and liked by two people that can’t vote for you to win.

What I don’t really understand is why Spencer seemed to honestly think he could beat Jeremy. I’m assuming he would have taken him out at 4 if he had the chance (although there is a really good question about whether he could beat Kelley too, given how the final vote went). The self-awareness just wasn’t there (although to be fair at the reunion he claimed to know immediately after Final TC that he didn’t win).

I did really like Jeremy’s ploy to get Kelley and Keith to vote Spencer just in case there was an idol at 5. Smart, subtle play there.

Thanks. I’ll check it out there if it’s not on OnDemand later. Having missed everything that happened after the very beginning of the last IC, I’m probably not seeing key parts of the whole picture.

I think Spencer was nearly transparent (literally) at the end. He was so skinny.

Wow.

Check out the Rob Has a Podcast Finale Recap here.

At about 1:12 into the podcast, Tasha mentions she’s going to take the high road by not mentioning the racial slurs Kass was throwing around on the island. Talk about passive-aggressive.

In case you missed it, Vytas was not at the finale, as he was not allowed.

Apparently he went home right after he was voted and started to post things on Social Media.

Yeah, the Final TC made it clear that Spencer isn’t nearly as liked by his fellow competitors as he is by the fans. Some are theorizing that the Powers That Be purposely gave Spencer a winner’s edit to help hide who the end winner was going to be. If you think about it… we certainly got a lot of confessionals from Spencer about how he was trying to change his game and be more social, but I can only remember Jeremy ever saying anything about how he liked him… and Jeremy couldn’t vote for him.

Fishbach said online that Jeremy was already the odds-on favorite heading into the FTC, and the comments made there helped him pick up a couple last votes.

Article I saw said it was the former (that he went home right away) and not the latter (social media).

If I remember correctly, the winner takes home the million dollar purse, but second place also gets a pretty nice prize, and I think the third finalist does as well.

Was there any mention of how the second - third prize designation was considered since there was only a first place winner, and the other two tied at zero votes?

I guessed they added the 3rd and 2nd together and split it. 2nd place is $100,000 and third is $85,000. So, $92,500 each.
