Who wins Survivor?

I think they both get a $100K.

NM.

I had to go to a work thing Weds., so didn’t watch this till Thurs. evening.

What a great season.

And what a great finale show – the TC where there were two votes in a row where all of the results were voided, how effin’ nuts was that?

I was rooting for Spencer, in part because his social game was so bad – not being a schmoozer, I empathize with him – but have zero problem with Jeremy winning. As everyone has said, he actually played a very skillful game, and it was Spencer’s own damn fault that he fell apart at the end and alienated the few votes he might have gotten – even if it was never going to be enough to win.

Another subtle key move by Jeremy was keeping Fishbach in the game when (I think) Spencer wanted to get rid of him. Fishbach was a key ally in Jeremy’s mid-season game.

Another Spencer blunder was, even though he was right about Kimmi’s flip, he went all in on Wentworth not having an idol. Jeremy could go along with it without looking bad because he had an insurance policy in his pocket. So Spencer gets played, looks like the bully, and Jeremy (rightly) states that he had Kimmi’s back until she turned.

Overall, I think this was the best season yet (although I tend to forget past seasons pretty quickly). Great gameplay all around. Love the addition of idols hidden in plain sight.

I came away from the final episode with a few thoughts about 4 of the survivors. I think the final 3 were some of the strongest to ever finish a season together. No goats, no split alliance, nothing like that - it was really refreshing and exciting going into the final vote. Tasha didn’t have a great chance from our perspective, but who knows based on the edits, right?

Finally, my heart goes out to Kimmey. I never got excited about her game or her edit, but she pushed for the right move at the right time - and it was a BIG move. Her mistake was that it was a little obvious and more than a little ham-handed. But it was a bold move to make, and took guts. I would have done far worse in her spot. She got burned real bad a result - but man do I hope she doesn’t have any hard feelings about it. It was the strongest season of Survivor I can ever remember, and she made it to the top 5!

Finally, I’m so sick of the jury getting butthurt about “but you backstabbed me!”, ESPECIALLY in a season where the tone of the game took a hard right turn to allow it socially. It was all voting blocks, every 3 days - anyone who took offense should have done something about it. In fact, it’s such a better game to be playing in. You don’t have to worry about locking yourself into an alliance doomed to failure - because you have the luxury to switch when you need to. I understand the emotions that come with losing the opportunity for $1m, but it’s incongruent with being pro-fluidity (?) during the game.

I thought it was a great season. In the top 5.

I can see Wentworth, Joe, Spencer, being part of a third season. Spencer has said that he is done, though.

Malcolm and Joe might be invited back together in “Survivor: Man Buns” (life BostonRob vs Hantz, Coach vs Ozzy)

Finally caught up with the finale and reunion and ponderosa. I think the love-fest FTC would have been Jeremy/Kimmi/Wentworth (from the final 6 or I might swap Wigglesworth for Jeremy) I think that would have been a novel FTC.

I went straight for Kelly’s ‘Pick a number’ as soon as she said it, even though I’m sure she wanted people to think she was heading towards a Rat/Snake comment. Still, I laughed.

Great season, great FTC.

For the next season, it looks like they said. “Hey, injuries do great things for our ratings…let’s have more of those!” I’m sure that’s not right, but this is getting dangerous!

I just got caught up on the season. I guess I’m in the minority in not liking Jeremy. I thought Spencer played the better game, but as soon as Jeremy got to cry about his pregnant wife in front of the jury, I knew he had won. That guy cries at the drop of the hat.

They shot the season being shown next before shooting the Second Chance season. To be honest, the producers might have neutered some of the challenges in the Second Chance season in response to how brutal the (upcoming, for us) season was.

Spencer played a better game because he was fighting tooth and nail as the underdog most of the game. Sometimes the jury rewards the scrappy underdog; sometimes they reward the guy who had a strategy that helped him stay strong in the show throughout the entire season. Since Jeremy’s “stay strong” strategy also included keeping other players in the game who were bigger targets than he was, that meant that most of the people on the jury felt that Jeremy had kept them in the game, while Spencer was trying to get them all out of it.
