That’s “LORD GARTHIAN”
Now Watching the adventures of Garth of Izar and his mental breakdown and eventual forcible removal from command would make a nifty mini series.
You are correct.
Does he have steel ball bearings that he fiddles with?
Hmm, well I must have conflated it with something.
See, IIRC they state somewhere in TOS that Spock is the first Vulcan serving in Starfleet, and that his dad was angry he didn’t join the Vulcan Academy and staff one of their science vessels.
I guess I must have assumed a ship full of Vulcans couldn’t be a Starfleet ship, and was therefore a Vulcan Science Academy ship.
My Ex fanwanked that Spock was the only Vulcan to attend the Federation Academy.
Henry Fonda. Mr Roberts deserves a command.
Kelsey Grammer reprising his role of Captain Bateson. After arriving in the 24th century he realizes he’s seriously behind on his technical knowledge, but once a captain, always a captain. So, he does what it takes to get up to speed and be a captain again in the 24th Century.
You might like the book which that article mentions: Ship of the Line | Memory Alpha | Fandom. It’s not bad. A funny part of it is that he has a fortune in back pay and a huge seniority edge over every other living captain, due to being stuck in a time loop for decades.
No love for Christopher Lee? Sean Connery has serious command presence too.
sonny corleone.
Bring over The Dude from the Big Lebowski:
Chekhov: Keptin, they are locking phasers on us!
Captain Dude: That is not cool! Tell them to knock it off!
I think Tom Selleck would have made a good captain. Captain Jesse Stone…
ETA: And Bill Bixby.
Spock: Captain, the Romulan is engaging its weapons system.
Captain: (snaps fingers)
Spock: Captain, the warbird has disappeared. That’s fuckin’ amazing. Okay, how did you do it?
Conan
Captain Conan of the Federation Starship Revenge, his mission to explore strange new worlds to crush his enemies, see them driven before him and to hear the lamentation of their women.
Anyone but Kate Mulgrew. Her voice was so high and nasally that every time I heard it I would find myself mimicking it by saying “follow the yellow brick road” over and over again.
And my God that link to Bujold was awful. Besides, everyone knows you can’t put the French in charge of a vessel. How would they know which way to throw their phasers when there is no gravity?
