Who Would You Like to See on DWTS?

*Dancing with the Stars *has had some good seasons, and some bad seasons (like the current one).

They tend to have a formula for who competes that goes something like this: (example of past celebs in parentheses)

Older personality (Cloris Leachman, Buzz Aldrin)
Football player/ex-jock (Emmitt Smith, Jerry Rice)
Soap star (Susan Lucci, Aiden Turner)
Former teen idol (Mario Lopez, Donny Osmond)
Olympic athlete (Kristy Yamaguchi, Apollo Ohno)
Pop singer (Mya, Mario)
Pin-up girl (Joanna Krupa, Brooke Burke)
Curvy/heavy girl (Niecy Nash, Marissa Jaret Winokur)
Reality star (Kate Gosselin - boo, hiss, Kim Kardashian)
Younger star (usually Disney related) (Sabrina Bryan, Aaron Carter)
Business/News Celeb (Steve Wozniak, Tom Delay)
Comedian/Comic Actor (Adam Carolla, John O’Hurley)

Sometimes a celeb is just a celeb by proxy- like Kelly Osborne or Heather Mills - more known for whom they are connected to than who they are.

So - based on this - who would you like to see on the show?

If you are not a fan of the show, or have nothing positive to add, feel free to move along

I’ve always wanted to see a middleweight or lightweight boxer. The smaller boxers are known for speed and agility.

In his prime, Sugar Ray Leonard had amazing footwork and lightening speed. He’s 54 and kept himself in shape. I’d like to see him on DWTS.

My other pick is Paige Davis from Trading Spaces. She’s danced in theater productions, but not ballroom. She’d be a mild ringer. DWTS always has at least one every season.

Also, how about a news-person? Campbell Brown?

Not that it’s at all likely, but I’d like to see Val Kilmer. Based on his performance in Top Secret!, he’s got a real sense of how to move his body, but it’s more than twenty years later now.

Thanks for starting this thread! I’ve been thinking about the same thing, given how blah the current season is.

I think he’s too big a star, but I’d love to see David Hyde Pierce. I’m trying to think of a female as a change of pace for the comic slot – ignoring that whole Cloris Leachman debacle – maybe DHP’s old costar Jane Leeves?

I also want to make a strict upper age limit of, say, 55. Maybe 50.

Here are some ones I was noodling with earlier:

Valerie Burtinelli
Rachel Ray
Duane “Dog” Chapman (the bounty hunter)
Sara Rue (Less than Perfect)
Nicholas Brendan (Buffy the Vampire Slayer)
William Shatner (He recently interviewed Jerry Springer on Raw Nerve and talked about *DWTS *- he was fascinated by it.)
Danielle Fishel - The Dish and Boy Meets World

Rod Blagojevich and Sarah Palin.

They’ve already had Giselle Fernandez and Tucker Carlson.

Someone older who has the talent to get to the top 2. Seriously, the show is good for the first few episodes when they have the people who will get kicked off early (Cloris, the Woz, Jane Seymour, Jerry springer…) and then it just becomes a competition between athletes and washed up pop stars with formal dance training.

I want to see Nicole Scherlizinfgjnfsdjnfsdjnfsdjk get her ass kicked by someone 50+.

As I said in a previous thread: Charo.

He’ll never be on that show - those guys are dangerous.

I’m surprised Richard Simmons hasn’t done DWTS. He’d fit in the comic category.

Leonard Nimoy, now that he’s retiring from acting.

Jane Leeves was/is a dancer, so she’d be a ringer. Actually, it would be nice, because it might allow someone older (she was born in 1961) to win. I don’t think the cut-off should be quite so low; Susan Lucci did fine (she wasn’t great, but she wasn’t bad), and she was over sixty. Nonetheless, I think sixty is a reasonable cut-off age.

I’d like to see Jay Osmond give it a shot, since he was probably the best dancer in the Osmond clan. If Jay is unavailable, then maybe youngish Jimmy could compete instead.

TV Chef Giada De Laurentiis

I made my mom watch Star Trek: First Contact the other day and she liked seeing James Cromwell dance to the jukebox. She even mentioned that he should be on DWTS.

I forgot Mike Rowe from Dirty Jobs.

+1

Sam Elliott!

This will probably kill the thread, but I would like to see a season with all the second place dancers back again. Followed up with all the winners competing against each other.
