Not renewing. Will come back if they actually ever go to free posting. I’m not big on giving people financial rewards for bad service.
I believe that a year is added to your subscription, so even if you pay early, you get a full year added on. Also, there were a couple days added to the subscription as I recall for various issues.
I renewed yesterday. The $7.48 isn’t going to break my budget, and I don’t have enough problems with the “service” here to not pay it.
I renewed even though unless things have changed recently I wouldn’t see ads anyway (given my use of ad blocking software).
Since I forgot to renew a while back I’ve already lost my Charterhood, but I think I will. I’m paid up through July, though.

The service here may suck sometimes, but its still worth a measly 7.48 a year, particulalry for access to the search feature. Had that still been disabled, no way in hell would I be renewing. I need to remember to do it tonight, since I’m up on may 10.
The ads were really, really, really annoying.

I’m more of a lurker than a poster, so I’m content to wait until they get the service for cheapskates up and running.
On reflection, I have one minor nitpick. As much as I don’t really care about the Charter Member title, why exactly are they removing it if you don’t pay to re-subscribe?
I mean, those two words, multiplied by the numbers of members, is hardly going to slow down the boards due to extra bandwidth - so I don’t exactly see any real purpose of removing the title Charter Member.
Or is the point to turn the title of Charter Member into some kind of status symbol icon - sort of like allowing paying members the privilege of wearing designer jeans while the rest of us wear Levis?

While trying to be a Responsible Non-Procrastinating Person, I re-upped the week before they announced free posting. I was annoyed at the time, but now I’m glad that I get to sidestep decision-making entirely.
Good news everyone! I don’t plan to renew. I expire on the 16th of this month and nothing that’s happened in '08 has convinced me that the board is still worth $14.
And I’ve already paid $24 for a membership on another board.
