I vote for Friends, too! I hated, hate, and will hate in the future every single one of them. (and I tried to watch the show, and I just could not make it through even 10 minutes).
Well, part of Hanna-Barbera’s formula was to take an idea (in this case, a cartoon based on Dobie Gillis) and add a dog to it. With Scrappy Doo, they took a concept that already had a dog at the center of it–and gave that dog a dog. Plus, when they gained Scrappy, they ditched Fred, Daphne and Thelma. However bad you thought the original show was, this damaged it further.
I don’t think we’re meant to actually hate Meg - everyone on the show hates Meg, but the fact they do so for no reason is meant as a joke.
Really? I mean, she was bland, I’ll grant you - not nearly as interesting (or hot!) as Tara. But she wasn’t particularly annoying.
For that matter, I’m not sure Connor belongs on this list. Yes, the character is flawed and irritating - but he’s pretty much meant to be that way, and has excellent reasons for being thus.
Wesley Crusher, hands down! This one really was a no-brainer (though I don’t have much liking for some of the other characters I recognize, either).
Ahem, that’s Velma, not Thelma. Possibly the hottest female cartoon character ever drawn…

Ginger or Mary Ann? Betty or Veronica? Daphne or Velma? Choices, choices…!
I voted for Peggy Hill.
I do wonder if the votes for Debra Barone are for the character or for the actress. I know that Patricia Heaton has drawn some criticism for her polictical views.
still surprised there’s not more hate here for Raymond’s mother.
I can totally see the “Friends” hate - they were as self-absorbed as the Seinfeld cast, but not as funny.
I understand the hate against Wesley and watching the series it got to the point of “Time for Wesley to save everyone.” but I couldn’t pull the trigger and vote for him. I give props to Wil Weaton for doing his best with a poorly written character. In hindsight reading what he posts on the web it is obvious that Wil realized Wesley is a douche and that is reflected in his acting when he makes his character into a complete douche that wins the science fair every year and gats his ass kicked on a daily basis.
Wesley: My Paladin is now level 36 with a +3 Sword of Enlightenment
Fellow student: WTF are you talking about?
Wesley: I cured AIDS in chem lab today.
Fellow student: Cure this! <kicks Wesley in the groin>
No, my vote went to Deanna Troi, Ship [del]Whore[/del] Counselor. As a character she is completely worthless. “I sense he’s hiding something.” No shit, but what about an observation not obvious to everyone? “I sense nothing Captain.” :smack: The only decent episode was when she lost her Trapeziod powers and Cptn Picard said “You went to counselor school for 8 1/2 years. Why not do some of that shit that you learned about.” and punched her in the face (Oh wait, that was the greatest scene everin a movie). And Marina Sirtis is just such a bad actress that she made a poorly written character worse. Personal hearsay anecdote FWIW: A friend of mine talked to her at a ST Convention and mentioned he saw some of her earlier movies. She all but admitted that she got those roles based on her great tits.
I just recently started getting into King of the Hill, and I actually really like Peggy. Hearing that people hate her so much, and that it makes the show almost unwatchable for them, is surprising to me!
Then his character would’ve been Sparks MCGee.
I laughed out loud when I read this! Wesley the Douchebag, who gets the crap beat out of him on his way home from the Holodeck every day. Love it!
When I think of how Roddenberry fought off NBC’s attempts to put kiddie space cadets on board the Enterprise in the animated version of STAR TREK (which, remember, ran for two years on Saturday mornings), the character of Wesley (and the idea of letting children accompany their parents on deep-space missions in general) just becomes even more baffling.
(In an interview just after TNG debuted, Gene admitted “Wesley is me at 14.” I remember thinking, “Wow! You must have been an even bigger dork than I was at that age!”)
My favorite Troi–Picard moment was the outtake “Captain! I sense … hostility!” / “You cow! A chair could sense hostility!”
And Marina was right about her tits. I have a couple of British men’s magazines that show them in all their glory, and I assure you they are (or rather, were) yummy!

Your misspelling of Velma’s name has already been corrected, but there’s another error here.
The introduction of Scrappy did not coincide with the rest of Mystery Inc getting sidelined. Scrappy-Doo was introduced in 1979 (Scooby-Doo and Scrappy-Doo, mk I), and the rest of the gang stayed until 1980 (Scooby-Doo and Scrappy-Doo, mk II). In 1983, Scrappy was still there, and Daphne returned (All New Scooby and Scrappy-Doo), and both were there again, as well as the introduction of Flim-Flam in 1985 (The 13 Ghosts of Scooby-Doo).
Scrappy and Flim-Flam both disappeared from the franchise (other than Scrappy’s…uh…interesting appearance in the live action film) after 13 Ghosts was cancelled, neither of them appearing (at least not regularly) in any of the 3 series to come after that - A Pup Named Scooby-Doo (the whole original cast as kids), What’s New Scooby-Doo? (the whole original cast), Shaggy and Scooby Get a Clue (mostly just Shaggy and Scooby, though the rest of Mystery Inc get fairly regular appearances, mostly just one an episode, though), and Scooby-Doo Mystery Incorporated (the whole original cast - the only series I’ve seen absolutely none of, so my impression that Daphne and Fred are relatively minor, and Shaggy, Scooby, and Velma pretty much dominate may be incorrect).
