Who's to blame if Biden loses?

I like that idea. I live in a politically mixed neighborhood, in a critical swing state, so if it helps motivate one voter, it would be great.

Now I have to go out and buy a US flag!

Single-issue voter morons who can’t fucking think? Always been the spoiler shitheads in my book. This time around, “Orangeman will free us from violence sought by Israeli Nation! Biden! OOOOGA-BOOGA I-can’t-balance-my Checkbook, BIDEN’S FAULT!!”

Doesn’t matter if this shitcophant can’t spell Israel “(It’s ISREAL, cause orange savior said it!), the orange glow will ride itself to the advantage of a bunch of fucking bible believers… HEY! Don’t start. The Trumpy Wumpy produced bible says so and Lee Greenwood backs him up.

I apologize if I’m being a bit too, well, trumping, but, hey, allowing this fuckwad to even run for POTUS is entirely fucking stupid. Shut it the fuck down.

All costs. Make him shit his fucking diapers. Let’s watch MTG and the rest suck those Pampers clean. Then watch the cheers. There will be a lot, but it will be fucking funny as fuck.

MTG: It’s better than chocolate peach cake!!!

Hey, Romney! Perry fuckado! Where the fuck are you!

I hear ya, though. In the theme of the thread I posted, I sometimes, can’t wait until Trump shits himself for the final time.

The blame would fall obliquely on those eligible voters who failed to cast a vote for Joe Biden.

And squarely on every single person who cast a vote for the America-hating fuckstick.

After all, as everybody knows, it’s a sin to vote for a Republican. The America-hating fuckstick is (at least on paper) a Republican. Therefore, it’s a sin to cast a vote for him.

ETA: if there was actually a real entity to which to direct prayers, I would be praying that this topic is academic.

…it is?

I certainly wouldn’t care, other than the fact that it would, perhaps, dissuade some from doing so, but I’ve never heard that before. Could you elaborate?

Methinks it might stem from voting as an article of faith for a candidate who doesn’t know which way up you hold a bible.

Sure.

As you say, it will perhaps dissuade some from voting for Republicans, namely some of those who believe that the Universe was created by an entity with strong, consequential preferences for how humans behave.

In short, it’s a lie. But as we’ve seen, lies often work. Why should the forces of evil be the only ones who get to benefit from the fact?

It’s kind of a stupid question, though. Joe Biden’s an idiot these days. The real question should be, who’s to blame if the Democrats lose? And, well, it’s the Democrats, because they chose to run Joe Biden.

His handling of (contribution to) the genocide in Palestine is what I object to most. But here are some campaign promises he has yet to keep or move forward, four years later:

  • Social Security solvency
  • Codify Roe v. Wade/protect abortion rights
  • Create a pathway to citizenship for immigrants
  • National commission to address policing issues
  • End pay discrimination
  • Increase access to affordable housing
  • $8,000 tax credit for child care
  • 12 weeks paid family and medical leave
  • Eliminate private dollars from federal elections
  • End for-profit detention centers
  • Tuition-free college
  • End gun violence
  • Strengthen bvoting rights
  • Expand health care

That’s a solid list, although some of it he’s been chipping away at (like student loan debt and tuition costs) and a lot of which simply can’t be achieved due to GOP obstructionism, no matter what.

But there are items there (particularly around immigration) he could have dealt with easily and hasn’t.

Thing is, on all of these issues, if you’re upset with Biden, you think you’ll be happier after you vote 3rd party and get Trump elected?

Let’s put on our critical thinking caps and see how each of these issues would go under Trump.

More like “ban abortion nationwide”

LOL no

Maybe a national commission to reward police departments that bang protestors’ heads on the door when putting them in a squad car

Yeah, right

This Trump might actually do because he’s a populist and done right giving tax credits for having kids can be spun as a conservative thing to do. Very unlikely though; only if he wanted a similar popularity bump to the one he got with COVID checks, I guess.

Again, I could see an off chance of this happening because it could be popular and spun as a pro family values thing; but I doubt it.

Yeah, right

More like “make all detention centers for-profit”

Hahaha no.

In conclusion, if you actually care about any of those issues, the only sane option is to vote for Biden. On the other hand, if you just want to virtue signal even if it gets you much worse outcome on every single one of these points, vote third party.

WRONG! It is the responsibility of ALL voters who don’t hate America to keep the government OUT OF Republican hands. And if that means putting Ronald McDonald, Oscar the Grouch, or Stormy Daniels in the White House (or whoever gets the Democratic Party nomination), that’s what it means. We can recover from any of those.

ETA: Joe Biden is actually a pretty good President, anyway.

Even if this is true (and I don’t believe that it is) and even if Trump isn’t an idiot, is Biden as dangerous as Trump? Is he as dangerous as Trump to the US and to the world? This should be the only consideration this election.

I absolutely don’t give a damn about how old, bland, idiotic, feeble, ineffective, dementia-ridden, or whatever other negative thing people wish to ascribe to Biden, he is. And again, I don’t believe that any of these do apply to Biden. The alternative is simply too dangerous, toxic and potentially catastrophic to the US and to the rest of the world.

Yes, just like every election since 1976 and probably earlier. Scaremongering is getting tiring. I’m going to vote for an actual good (but not great) candidate that’s better than both of these idiots, and if Trump wins, it’s not the end of the world, just like every other election hasn’t been the end of the world.

You kids worry too much these days.

My bolding. Yes, getting a one-time check for HAVING a kid might be acceptable to Republicans–but getting help with child-care expenses? No way. That’s a continuing expense. And also, them wimmins should be home taking care of their own kids anyway.

Otherwise, I agree with your list entirely.

A succinct presentation of the pro-autocracy sales pitch. Why vote? Nothing ever changes! and It hasn’t happened yet therefore it can’t happen! etc. etc.

I have a hope that by now, a lot of American voters are getting at least a bit smarter about these sales pitches, and recognize them for what they are. And we still have five months to expose the bad logic behind them.

There is no candidate better than Biden right now.

Do we, though?

I dislike Biden a great deal, and to be honest, I’m sick of how great some people find him to be, while acting as if I have no legitimate reason to dislike him, and I should be ecstatic to vote for him. To them I say; I’m legitimately GLAD you’re happy, I just think a lot of these people are out of touch with the working class, perhaps.

Anyway, that said, Trump is dangerous. As a survivor of the pandemic, it’s easy for me to say “the world wont end under Trump.” Are the lives you’re potentially putting at risk worth it?

Like I’ve said elsewhere, I hope you’re right. I hope Trump won’t enact Project 2025. I hope he won’t have political enemies arrested. I hope he won’t fulfill his various promises to ban abortion nationwide. I hope that if he survives to the end of his term, he makes no attempt to disrupt the transfer of power like he did in 2020.

But given his track record and actual quoted statements of intent, I’m still mildly surprised that some non-hardcore conservative people have been able to dismiss the possibility so easily.

It’s not even really Trump. It’s the cover he’ll give to others to move unfettered and make things like Project 2025 happen.

Which one?
