Who's WallyM7?

I’ve noticed a lot of sig files (mostly from people who’ve been here a while) that mention WallyM7. Who is he? And why’d he leave?

Just been bugging me for a while.

A long time fellow Doper who has passed on.

WallyM7 Tribute Page

WTF? Don’t ask me how that number came up…

3124 is correct. That is the number of posts Wally had when he died. (Some ensuing thread pruning has reduced his current post count.)

Because some of the threads in which Wally posted replies were purged when they updated the server. We didn’t lose any of his OPs, though, so no worries there. His actual post count when he died was 3124.

We miss you terribly, Wally. {{{Hugs}}}

I’ve been lurking the boards for a few years now, and I heard about Wally’s passing. But it never really affected me as I never knew him. (Or anyone else at taht time.)

We talked about him at the latest Toronto DopeFest and our first toast was to his memory.

Now I have gone to the WallyM7 Tribute Page and have been reading through his posts, quotes, sigs, and everything else he offered.

I’m welling up.

All though I never knew him, I would like to say that I am sorry that I didn’t. But I feel I can get to know him through his messages he left for us.

:Hold up Drink:

Here’s to you Wally. Go forth in peace. You will always be remembered.

Sorry if I upset anyone by asking that, I had no idea about any of that.

Anyway, seemed like a great guy. I’m sorry I didn’t get a chance to know him :frowning:

I was wondering why I thought of 3124 first, only to see a few moments later 3012.

Color me stupid, but I miss the man…

Of course, I’m stupid for not remembering the pruned threads.

It’s cool.

WallyM7 was the soul of the board while he was here. He’s still here.

There were pages and pages of threads begging Wally for sig lines, because he did them best. I joined a few months before he died, and was lucky enough to get one.

The whole Board grieved when he died, and I for one still miss his wisdom and humor. The thread about the nurses at the hospital when he had his surgury is still the funniest thing I’ve ever read on these Boards.

:frowning: Miss ya, Wally.

My Wally memories are getting a bit rusty. This is actually the funniest thread I have ever read on the Boards.

I was close. The Nurse one is hilarious too, but this one gives me stomach cramps from laughing so hard. :stuck_out_tongue:

Lateralus -

Hey, I might be alone in this, but I kind of enjoy when someone asks ‘Who’s Wally?’. It gives me a chance to think about him again, and reminds me how lucky we were to have him on the boards, even for such a little while. I don’t think I ever spoke directly with Wally, but he was always one of my favorite posters and still is.

Don’t feel bad for asking.

I like to think of Wally as the patron saint of this message board.

He could :wally like nobody else.

I joined sometime in April but never ventured beyond GQ for a long time. I didn’t know anything about it until I saw the banner at the top of the page when it happened.

Very good reading. Reminds me of an uncle of mine.

After reading most of that, I’d like to raise my glass of scoth to not only Wally, but the rest of the members here. The warmth and love you showed him is remarkable. It’s a great community and I feel honored to be here among you all.

God bless all of you.

Is but a little way above our heads,
Staying for thine to keep him company.
Either thou or I or both must go with him.
