Broadway Boards are a-buzz about Hugh Jackman thanking both his wife Debbie AND his (male) partner John. To quote: I’m proud to witness the first bisexual thank you in Emmy history.
What’s so strange about it? That’s the way the theme song was performed on the show.
The actual lyrics to the Star Trek theme, and the whole sordid story behind them.

Well now that makes sense! I thought the censor-insert was “George Bush doesn’t like black salmon.” I could not figure out what the heck “black salmon” was.
I also thought Conan’s entry was the funniest.
You’re not serious.
You’re totally serious? …Wow.
I hoped it was, but when the rest of the cast started ragging on each other about Brad Garrett’s spin-off (we’ll recast the brother, get someone who knows how to kiss, etc.), I figured it was scripted.
I though Da Ali G Show’s was the funniest, with all the stills of the (gay?) male porn stars.
I think what made the Star Trek song so funny was that they got Frederica von Stade to sing it! Otherwise, Emmy Idol was pretty lame.
Shatner & Spader & Raymond’s wins were all undeserving (and I’m skeptical about Patricia Arquette as well, though I haven’t seen Medium). There were several more deserving in each of those categories, though I feel bad for Peter Boyle, this decade’s Jason Alexander (though at least Boyle did win an Emmy for The X-Files years ago).
And it was pretty shocking that The Life & Death of Peter Sellers ended up walking away with 9 Emmys, including Director, Writing, and Lead Actor, but not Best TV-Movie.
Second that- the others were almost quaint by comparison!
Not with a tuxedoed William Shatner staring deep into the mezzo-soprano’s eyes while she waved her arms around in a glittery purple poncho, it wasn’t!
Yeah, that was her. She’s done some work on Broadway, I think, so she knows how to sing.
Kristen Bell was very good in the Reefer Madness musical, and I’m not only saying that because she was dressed like a dominatrix in one scene.
I cracked up at the Daily Show submission of the writer looking at the Drudge Report and having an alarm flashing on top of the monitor.
You should check out the Reefer Madness Musical that Showtime ran last spring (altho I’m not sure how you’ll be able to) Kristen bell is one helluva talented gal
Ana Gastayer is also in it and excellent
it should have been ‘wailed’ by a colluratura (sp?) The mezzo’s voice was too heavy for the piece
Not so shocking - Did you see L&D of PS? EXCELLENT bio-flick - Rush is one HELLUVAn actor
Maybe you misread–it won 9 Emmys but not the top prize (which went to Warm Springs)
sorry yes - i did misread
forgive me?
Do you mean it should have been sung by a lyric mezzo instead of a dramatic one? “Mezzo-soprano” and “coloratura” are ranges, not styles.
well yeah - but i still think a higher voice would have rendered it better
