It’s nice to have on in the background, but I won’t give it too much of my time. That being said, it seems like the country group is far and away the best of the bunch and I don’t even like country music.
Still, everyone on the show looks like they are having fun and that can be infectious. So I hope it stays on the air.
I’m not really sure what to say about the thing at the end…
Oh and Jewel >>> anyone else they’ve had sitting between Shawn and Ben.
I’d never watched it before last night, so I don’t think I count as watching it again.
I’m rooting for the acoUstiKats, because they are local, despite the dumb spelling of their name.
I’ll also root for the country group because they come from approximately the place of my birth/childhood. And I enjoyed them–although I wasn’t real impressed with their choice of song.
I also liked the older guys singing Doo-Wop style.
I had a strongly negative reaction to Vocal Play-- they felt more gimmicky than musical. I am a strong believer in the idea that songs should have tunes, melodies and harmonies, and lyrics that tell a story.
I have mixed emotions about any group that does a lot of choreography-- on the one hand, yes, it’s often fun to watch. But if this show is about singing, and singing without instruments . . . exciting choreography has the potential to be a distraction. (And some of my favorite groups to listen to aren’t big on dancing).
Also, frankly, I think I’d be happier treating it as a concert rather than a contest-- listening to the judging didn’t do a whole lot for me (some of it was too technical for me, other bits too banter-y). And of course they did spent way too much time promoting what’s coming up next. Plus, the group we were watching it specifically for, was the last group to perform.
I love this show…so happy to see it back. I really enjoyed most of the groups and would agree that so far I think the country group was the best. The bass singer was amazing, in my opinion. I didn’t care for the all girl group, probably because of the lack of lower tones.
