WHSMITHOnline + Surftime, Please help me

Does anyone out there use WHSMITH Online to connect to BT Surftime?
I cant find the new phonenumber anywhere.
This is for my gran, and i cant find teh number.
I’ve tried e-mailing WHSMITH. But i’m not sure if they are part of the same company.
the WHSMITH Online phonenumber on the cd she had has been disconnected and 192 doesnt have any number for them.

Could someone please explain to me how surftime works in regard to paying and stuff, can she maybe use a different ISP ( BTClick for example) and still connect to the surftime without having to open up a new account? The way i understand it she cant. but she phoned up the people at BT and told her the situation ( The number to connect to Surftime has changed adn she cant get a hold of the new number) and they sent her a BTClick disc. Why?. And does someone HAVE THAT NUMBER?

Well, a Google search for “whsmith” turns up this. Are these the same people?

http://www.whsmith.co.uk/whs/Go.ASP?MENU=WHSmithnet&pagedef=/todaynet/home/show_ispreg.htm&data=isp_reg&Desc=WHSmithNetSmallPopupClick

(Sorry, the page originally came through as a popup from the main website, http://www.whsmith.co.uk/whs/Go.asp )

Over on the left, under “Free Services”, it says “Net Access”. “Copy Shortcut” won’t bring this up in a link, so you’ll have to click through. Looking for phone numbers.

There’s also a FAQ that explains how the various surfing packages works.

Best regards to Gran.

… and a VERY occasional poster (but frequent lurker).

Firstly, I’m not claiming to represent BT officially here, in any way shape or form. YMMV…

Secondly, with regard to the charges, it depends whether you really mean Surftime which is an older product and not often talked about these days, or whether you mean Surf Together, which I think is probably more likely, since it’s much more widely promoted.

Surftime costs £14.99 or £19.99 per month, depending on whether you go for the Off-Peak or 24/7 option. This is on top of your line rental.

Surf Together costs £15.50 per month, and gives you Off-Peak access. The charge includes your line rental.

Neither option includes the cost of the ISP itself. Whichever ISP you choose, their charge will appear on the BT bill. As well as going onto the Surf Together (or Surftime) option with BT (speak to Customer Services on 150 to do this), you’ll need to sign up to your chosen ISP’s Surftime/Surf Together service. For this to work, * you have to sign up to one of the ISPs that are involved in the scheme.*

BT’s list of participating ISPs is here - click on ‘ISP Information’. This list is valid for both Surftime and Surf Together…use the Evening and Weekend list for Surf Together compatible ISPs. I

Hope this helps…

Rich.

Aint looked at the list of ISP’s you posted( computer wont let me ). But i think its the same one that i looked at the other day, Adn it dont include WHSMITHONLINE.
Why do you have to connect through another ISP tho?
my leetle mind cant comprehend.

Why do you have to connect through another ISP? Er, because that’s the way it works. Whether you’re talking about Surf Together or Surftime (you still haven’t said), the BT charge only covers the cost of calls to your ISP, not the actual ISP service itself. Just the way things are, I’m afraid…

…oh, and you’re right, WH Smith Online isn’t on the list.
