After 3 years with a mustache and goatee, I went clean-shaven.
I shaved around 9 am Saturday.
I applied a balm product by Brut and went to the flea market in Hartville OH.
This morning, shaved and used the same product.
This evening, had dinner at Outback steak house and then went to Cold Stone Creamery. Had two flavors I never had before.
45 minutes later, in a gas station mirror, I notice a bunch of zits on my chin.
No zits anywhere else.
Is breaking out after removing a long-standing beard normal?
Had you used the balm product before?
Did you have anything at dinner you hadn’t had before?
What flavors of ice cream did you have?
Are you sure they are zits or could it be razor burn?
Considering you mention things that you ate, I’m going to ask, just to get it out of the way, is it splotchy, like a rash?
I have a landscape of ever-shifting facial hair. I rarely use a razor, because I can maintain most of it with an electric trimmer. So, those times I decide to clean-shave with a razor, my skin breaks out mainly on my chin.
I’d chock it up to razor burn. You’re shaving off tiny bits of skin that your pours and follicles aren’t used to, so your immune system kicks in and forms the zits. I don’t think diet or skin products in particular are a huge factor here.
Sounds like the balm is over-moisturizing the skin. If you feel the need to use something after shaving try some alcohol or witch hazel based stuff.
I have used the balm before, but never on my chin; always on my neck or cheeks.
The ice cream was banana and pistachio with some almonds.
It very well could have been razor burn. I frankly hadn’t had noticeable razor burn like that before in my life.
No splotchiness.
Leaning towards razor burn.
cmyk and Turble, thanks for your answers.
