Why are my golf clubs in Mosquero, NM?

I ordered some golf clubs, which are being shipped to me near Chicago via Fed Ex. They are being built in Scottsdale AZ. So I figured Fed Ex would have a hub at the Phoenix airport, then they would wing to OHare, 20 minutes from me.

Instead, they went from Scottsdale to Tucson, then to Chandler - another Phoenix burb, and finally to Phoenix. At last, I figured they would be on their way to OHare. Instead, since 7:21 this morning, tracking has them in beautiful Mosquero, NM - population 95! Google Maps

I’ve seen some weirdness in terms of package tracking in the past, but Mosquero, NM?

WAG they ended up in the wrong container and were stuck with it until the container was opened. Once it was opened and the individual items were scanned, yours was routed back towards you.

Weird. Let us know if/when you get them.

Years ago I ordered a freezer online expecting that it would be shipped from somewhere close to me. I am in Sydney. Wondering why It hadn’t arrived I checked the tracking information. It had been shipped, for some reason, from Melbourne and was in Brisbane. Eventually, days later, it arrived.

It would be like living in North Carolina and ordering something only to find that it was shipped from Miami to New York to get to you.

It would have been easier to understand with something small, but a freezer?

FedEx has a large truck fleet. Unless you paid for next day or 2nd day delivery your clubs are probably coming by truck, not jet, from the warehouse / factory in Scottsdale to you.

That doesn’t explain Mosquerro specifically, but it will explain a lot of what you’ve seen & will see as it peregrinates its way to you.

OK - as LSL suggests, I guess they are on a truck, rather than plane. Today they are in Strafford, MO - outside of Springfield. Pop 2500. I can see a truck route from Phoenix to Chicago goes through Springfield, and apparently Fed Ex Ground has a distribution center in Strafford. Still not sure how to explain Mosquero…

There is no rush - our golf season is near its end. The only reason I’m tracking this is that I’m excited about this purchase.

When Fed Ex picked them up, they predicted delivery yesterday. Then, after their first jaunt within AZ, they changed it to Tuesday afternoon. I can only imagine how complicated the logistics of a major delivery service must be.

maybe more importantly, what type of clubs did you get? I’m always on the lookout for a set of new clubs I can become disappointed with when they don’t magically correct my swing.

There is absolutely no way the golf clubs were actually in Mosquero. Look at a map. It makes sense that they were traveling north on Interstate 25 which is about 50 miles to the northwest. The FedEx tracking software must have somehow picked Mosquero as the closest town. But it would have made much more sense for the software to pick Springer or Las Vegas (New Mexico).

Useless trivia fact: Mosquero, New Mexico is the least populous county seat in New Mexico.

ETA. Maybe FedEx routed them on northbound U.S. Highway 54, leaving Interstate 40 in Tucumcari. But still it would make more sense to estimate their location as near Tucumcari, Logan, or Nara Visa. There is still no no way they would actually pass through Mosquero.

Interestingly, I googled ‘Fedex Mosquero’ and you’re not the only person that’s had this question.
If these answers are correct, it’s not that it stopped there, it’s just where the truck happened to be when it’s GPS location was reported. Maybe Mosquero is one of the places it happens to phone home as it passes through and/or maybe because the name Mosquero is rare enough, googling just happened to show me the other 2 people that asked the same question.

It wasn’t scanned, that’s the GPS tag from the trailer while in transit.

In transit is just an automatic scan. The location doesn’t always match up to where it actually is.

it was explained to me in transit is the GPS tracker on the trailer.

Thx. I did look at a map, and wondered why it would pass by Santa Fe and Vegas with no mention, only to ping for Mosquero. And no place to the east for >12 hrs.

Thx.

I REALLY didn’t start this thread to discuss my club purchase! PXGs. Black Ops driver, 4, 7 woods, G7 irons 5-gap, and 3 Sugar Daddy wedges - 52, 56, 60 degrees.

I’ve been golfing since I was in 8th grade, with the same irons for >30 years. I bought my driver/5W about 15 years ago when I was golfing daily and playing to a single digit. I no longer have the swing or game I had then. I just turned 65 last week. Bought these as a birthday present to take me into my retirement/dotage.

I cannot recommend the PXG fitting experience highly enough. The most fun I’ve had in years. First time I’ve ever been fitted. Of course, I played last Thursday and was absolutely striping the ball. My asshole friends were everso helpfully observing, “I don’t know why you think you need new clubs!

I wondered if maybe Mosquero’s status as county seat had something to do with it but there are no routes passing through Harding County that make any sense at all.

Also, Mosquero is Spanish for fly-infested.

I looked at a map of the 87733 zip code (the zip code for Mosquero) but this provided no explanation.

Considering it’s FedEx, if the OP ever gets their order it would be a miracle.

This is the company that when they said they dropped my wife’s medicine in our milk-box and I replied we don’t have a milk-box literally said, “You’re a fucking liar.”

I’m reminded of the time I ordered fig cuttings from a farm in California. They wound up being passed back and forth for weeks between USPS offices in a variety of small California cities within a 60 mile radius, before eventually getting to me in Kentucky.

Why are my golf clubs in Mosquero, NM?

This has the makings of a great country song.;

What I find weird is that, eve assuming it is an automatic scan, why do they not update more regularly? Currently, my tracking says Strafford MO at 829 pm yesterday. Moreover, the previous entry for Mosquero NM has been removed from my tracking history, and all it shows is the trips within AZ.

And for the 1400 mile drive between Phoenix and St Louis, the only automatic scans occurred in Mosquero and Strafford.

They are still sticking with their predicted delivery on Tuesday between 1050 am and 250 pm.

Amazingly, we must have the same group of asshole friends we golf with. It’s definitely not us who are the as&$@es🤪

Huzzah! They have made it to Chicago!

Now to navigate the labyrinth of Chicago’s street network to Casa Dinsdale.

Provisional congrats on your / their success to date.

And my heart is still in Tennessee. It practically writes itself.

My pickup’s broke down and it’s a-rainin’ at my mailbox. I got them missin’ FedEx blues.
