Why are women from Eire so gorgeous? (Think Andrea Corr). There’s something about them - that dark hair, those eyes, those lips…
Luck of the Irish?
Apart from her equally stunning sisters, they don’t all look like Andrea Corr.
Well, not *all *- but an awful lot do.
Must be something in the canal water.
Not women specifically, but one of the most beautiful groups of people I’ve ever seen are the Wodaabe people of Africa. I read a National Geographic article on them years back and every person photographed, male or female, seemed to be the very essence of grace and serenity. The Wikipedia article doesn’t have many photos, but do an image search on Google or right on the National Geographic site and you should easily turn up some stunning pictures.
When I saw this thread, I thought “WTF is the OP smoking? Most of the women I’ve seen in Northeast Pennsylvania look haggard and tough, like they were ridden hard and put away wet.”
FWIW, EVERY women I’ve ever met who hails from Denmark has been supermodel-level gorgeous. Seriously, not Sears catalog model, but cover-of-Vogue model. ALL OF THEM.
OP must not have seen American Idol this year. There was an Irish girl on there who was scary ugly.
I have way too many beautiful Irish cousins, our big Irish family spit out 5 girls for every boy that was born, so there’s a lot of them. I hope to have a gorgeous Irish girl myself (well, half gorgeous-Italian). My sister seems to have gotten the beautiful genes in our immediate family, with her red/auburn hair and 5 foot tall petite frame. I’m resigned to the cute and curvy English side that dominated in my genes. I do have green eyes though!
Eire as in Southern Ireland
I must admit that the first time I went to California in the seventies, I was a bit overwhelmed by the blonde beauties.
> Northeast Pennsylvania
Northwest, I meant.
American Idol doesn’t have real people. I mean, you didn’t think they were really human, did you?
As Elmwood can testify they’re not a patch on us Eire-men. We be Adonis-like.
I hate when UKians use the term Eire, it always jars with me, seems like a put down but hey it says it on the coins. Not many Eire-ians refer to Ireland as Eire. Eireann maybe but not Eire so much.
Funny story about that girl. Her record company spent something like $2,000,000 on her début album and it bombed, sold something like 300 copies.
I’m sorry about the Eire bit - I had no idea. I just wanted to distinguish it from Northern Ireland, where, I’m very sorry to say, the women just aren’t up to scratch!
So what should it be - Eirann?
Eireann, the Free State, the Irish Republic, the Republic Of Ireland, the free part of Ireland, the good part of Ireland, John Bull’s Other Island, the Emerald Isle (minus Norn Iron).
I have to say Norn Iron women have beautiful accents for the most part.
I had to go to Ohio to find my red-haired Irish cailín though.
Funny you say that: I really don’t like the accent from the Brit bit, whereas the women from the bit down below
, apart from the looks, also have gorgeous accents. (Would you believe, I’ve never been there).
An Gadai - You found someone on your recent visit? Is she a Doper?
StG
Nope (although she may have a guest membership). She was originally my penpal. I arranged to meet up with other Cleveland-area dopers cos I knew I’d be back again. I’ve been there three times. Is this a record?
