Why can't I get enough of these Hitler rants?

But that one’s not funny.

Previous thread with a ton of other examples.

This one is, by far, the funniest of the lot.

Tragically, some of them have been removed via “takedown notice” by an astoundingly clueless film company. As I said in that thread, this parody trend has taken this film from an obscure art-house work that came out years ago into the mainstream. I could see issuing a takedown if someone had put the whole film up, but one clip? That doesn’t impact the market for the original film, it is well within the Fair Use copyright exception for “parody”, and it gets people who would otherwise have never sought this film out to do so.

But if you hadn’t been the type to seek it out before, are you really the type to enjoy a super-realistic movie about the last days of Hitler’s bunker? I mean, I loved the movie (long before the YouTube parodies) and I think it’s a great example of fair use, but that’s kind of an odd argument for it.

Sure, why not? I mean, I really enjoyed the movie but it’s not exactly a well known blockbuster film - it’s a small foreign language film that I just happened to stumble upon. If I had seen these videos first, it would’ve made me seek it out.

Well, it doesn’t hurt. If 5% of the people who watch these vids say “hmm, this looks interesting and I never knew about it” and go find the movie, then you’ve gained that much more of an audience. You lose nothing by letting it be used this way.

That should be the way that studios think in general, unfortunately it’s not.

Of course if you’re a motorcyclist then Hitler losing his Honda is great too.

Did you know Bruno Ganz is the current holder of the Ifland Ring, which the current Best German Actor Alive wills to the next Best German Actor Alive? Just on the strength of that movie alone I’m sure he deserves it, although it must have sucked for him to go to the grocery store or to the park shortly after that movie. “Holy scheiss, it’s fucking Hitler!”

As a photographer, I love the ones made with him complaining about recently released cameras…mimicking the whining that occurs from some people on the photography boards I frequent.

I avoided seeing the film in the theater, even though I’m a big Bruno Ganz fan. I developed a huge mancrush on him for his role as Damiel in “Wings of Desire”, and I just couldn’t handle seeing the same actor who played such a sweet, wonderful character playing the most evil man who ever lived.

Not the first odd argument I’ve made.

Hitler loses his porn is a good one too. I also liked Hitlers Mother Is Coming To Visit!!, Hitler finds out there’s no Santa, and all of the ones where he gets banned from some internet community.

And I like it better when they work Stalin’s name in.

I love the Burning Man one, which I hadn’t seen before - I think it really captures the essence of the original, which is that this is a guy who’s lost his dream and doesn’t want to admit it. Also, it’s hilarious.

Bruno Ganz doesn’t really look that much like Hitler. Also he’s Swiss, and the Iffland Ring is now officially Austrian (but presumably meant for German-speaking actors).

He’s an amazingly talented actor. The DVD for Downfall has some interview excerpts with him; he found it very difficult to get into the role and to establish the emotional connection with such a profoundly evil man in order to accurately play him. But good lord, he did it - it’s a gritty, mesmerizing tour de force. His Hitler veers between jubilation, determination, anger, self-pity, tenderness, delusional hope and utter despair over the course of the movie. Very convincing. It really is worth seeing.

Someone should do one on Lieberman’s filibuster threat (after all, we all know Obama is Hitler). I’m not sure I’d have the guts to work Lieberman’s ethnicity into it tho…

I’m going to post mine here again: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u4MqwkTl7bs

One of my favorites is the one where he is talking on the phone with the Angry German Kid, complete with the Angry German Kid’s incoherent screaming edited in. Nothing like Hitler telling someone to calm the fuck down.

As was Hitler.
I can’t help but find Hitler on you tube to be offensive.

Not the young Hitler, full of life and crazed delusions, but he does a hell of an older Hitler, with his world collapsing around him. Add me to the list of people who were brought to “Downfall” by these clips. Like most people here I can hear beyond the subtitles and can see this is an intensely-realistic film.

ETA: But it’s still funny!

And is that Eva Braun in the dirndl? Dude had his [del]perversions[/del] preferences 'til the end. Poor girl. I always felt bad for that little retard. :frowning:
