Why can't I listen to complete podcasts?

I have usually been able to listen to complete podcasts, but recently some of them just stop after about 5 or 10 minutes. When I try to replay them, they seem to stop at about the same point. That leads me to believe that there is a problem with the podcast itself, but I’m not sure how to rule out a problem with my system (Windows 8 running on an HP desktop).

Can anyone here tell me how to determine the source of the problem, or more importantly, how to fix it?

Clearing the browsers cache is usually very effective.

Chrome click settings, privacy, clear browsing data

Firefox click settings, clear history and then cache

That gets most of the cache.

I like to run CCleaner. It’s free and it scrubs away more files. It’s very good at Deleting Cookies. Just be aware you’ll have to sign into web sites again. You can create exceptions for Cookies you want to keep. Straight Dope for example. So I don’t have tp log back in.

What is the program that you are using to listen to podcasts?

Is it an internet browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, etc)? Or a different program (ITunes, Windows Media Player, etc)?

I’m using Chrome as the browser.

OK. I did that, and I was able to listen to more of the podcast, but it still stopped playing about 15 minutes in.

Is there any way I can tell whether the problem is with my system or with the podcast itself?

The problem is definitely your setup. The podcast reviews will light up with negative comments if a bad version is uploaded. The broadcaster will usually reupload a clean version-- which for many people using iTunes, Stitcher or other podcast software results in a 2nd copy of an apparently identical podcast being downloaded.

I really recommend finding a podcast player/manager to use. They have many other advantages like fast forwarding or playing at double speed which are awesome.
