Your podcast is shutting down my iPod

From time to time I get a podcast that won’t play on my iPod. Instead, it shuts the iPod off. The screen goes blank, then the Apple logo comes up and a moment or two later my iPod is back. It will play any song, any video I have on it, but not that particular podcast. I’ve tried reloading the podcast on my iPod, I’ve tried downloading it anew from iTunes, nothing seems to work. I’ve had this happen with an episode of Science Friday and now with podcasts of Charles Grodin, so I’m getting these from good sources.

Anybody have a clue why this is happening and what I can do about it?

I had the same thing happen. In my case, it was because the podcast was in mono and I had equalization turned on. Turning equalization off prevents the reset.

This is a known bug that I found on apple.com. I think it’s only on the newer iPods.
