Listen, I love Dusty, but he’s doing some crazy stuff with that bullpen. He’s real itchy on the trigger finger and now he’s stuck because he’s got to let the pen work out their problems.
Hey cards, how’d that St. Louis basketball team do in the draft? What? St. Louis doesn’t have a basketball team? Oh. Well, at you have a football team that might sell out a game or two this year. Try not to lose this one like you did with last one. You know the team, the one that Chicago didn’t want and gave to St. Louis.
Pfft. This Cubs fan won a bet already from a Yankees fan.
And since Crunchy Frog lost the picture, there is no proof I ever wore a Cardinals hat. thank Goddess Now to trade Sosa for Edmonds and Drew…
Well, that WalMart jerk Bill Laurie (owner of the NHL’s StL Blues) has been trying to get a basketball team to STL, but Stern kept dicking around. At first, Laurie tried to get the Grizzlies, but at the time Stern was insisting any buyers keep the team in Vancouver (to avoid embarassing Stern for his greatest blunder.) He made a play for Charlotte but there wasn’t enough time (we should have gotten that one, since New Orleans stole our team a long time ago.)
The difference between the Rams and the football Cardinals of old is that the Rams have had at least a couple successful years, and I think that’ll be enough to have gotten people interested to sustain them through the down years. The city was never really attached to the football Cardinals.
But at any rate, STL has always been, and will always be, a baseball town. Baseball is the #1 game in town, everything else is peripheral.
You Cubs and Red Sox fans think you have it rough?
Try being a Detroit Tiger fan!
At least the Cubs and Red Sox are above .500 and have a chance to make the playoffs.
The Tigers were eliminated from the playoff race about a month or so ago.
Ah well, at least Billy Laimbeer has the Detroit Shock at the top of the WNBA standings. Maybe they can bring a trophy to Motown, because the Tigers surely won’t.
That is so untrue. White Sox fans never beat their women. They know better. Anyone even attempting to beat up the average female White Sox fan would be taking his life into his hands.
White Sox fans of both genders chew nails, unlike the self-absorbed whiners on the other side of town.
At least you have some hope. Players want to play there, free agents want to go there. The only free agents wanting to go to Milwaukee have been turned down by about 25 other teams. Everytime they sign one, you can see the look of desperation in their eyes as they say "I really want to play here, I want to make a contribution’… Last night they brought up a 37 yr old minor leaguer to start. In todays paper they are talking about the new young Brewers, that they are in Class A and Class AA.
At least Corky Sosa broke out of his slump against Milw-if it’s one thing the Brewers pitchers are good at, it’s getting hitters out of slumps.
But that was a sweet game the other day, getting humiliated for 8 innings and then winning it on one swing-and against the Cubs no less.
