Why did 45% of Hispanic voters vote for Trump?

You are not going to get anywhere on this board trying to explain because this board just don’t want to hear the truth.

The truth is 45% of hispanic voters happily went to Trump, no fraud. The reason why comes down to racial identity. They see themselves as white and fighting against black people like maga does.

But they do not understand that maga hates them and sees them as not white and just want them gone, removed from the country.

Maga doesn’t like black people either, but there are hundreds of years of history here and the relations are very complicated. The United States has gone mask off and the agenda is to expel all non-white, in maga’s mind, people and re-enslave black people. That’s why you see the texts to black people saying report to the plantation.

Thats why Harris was saying we won’t go back at first, which I thought was a good message. It covered we won’t go back to Trump or slavery. Or to the time time when America was so called great.

Look at that MSNBC video of the hispanic couple in Nevada. They admit they came to the country illegally but got amnesty from Reagan.

They just don’t understand that they are the people that maga wants to deport. The just don’t get it and they voted for Trump.

Maga is getting bold now, telling women it’s her body but their choice.

This is what the country voted for, and there is no chance Trump is going to lift a finger to stop it.

Every point in this post has been made by posters that are not you.

So why are people still asking why and what happened? After I spelled it out for them years ago?

Because you spelled out nothing we didn’t already know and in no way explained why.

It’s like explaining that serial killers are psychopaths but knowing that still doesn’t explain why they kill people.

This is a ridiculous statement.

Where do you think maga thinks the labor is going to come from when they deport the so-called undocumented workers? Is maga going to work in the fields and the meat plants?

It won’t be literal slavery of course. They will use the prison industrial complex to achieve this, thats why they want police immunity.

Yeah, this.

My state did have two people arrested for election interference this time around. They were both White Republicans and neither were targeting Hispanics.

If 45% of Hispanics voted for Trump then 45% of them voted for Trump. Why? The economy, social conservative reasons, and also immigration - some Hispanics are very much supporters of Trump’s views on immigration and very hostile towards those here illegally.

Too often in the US groups of people are seen as clones in lockstep rather than what they are: individuals. Being a member of X group does not predict one has Y position on issue Z. I’d like us to stop acting like labels are destiny but I’m not hopeful of that really changing in my lifetime.

Nope, it’s not. Do ALL Republicans think that way? No. But there is definitely a sub-set that do.

I mean it’s not like we have evidence that they want to whitewash the entire period of chattel slavery in this country and portray it an an idyllic time of racial harmony.

Can we stop saying it’s the economy? They didn’t vote for Trump because of the economy. We are talking about people, not just hispanics, but all of Trump voters, that think tariffs are taxes that other countries pay to us. The average Trumper maga does not know anything.

Maga thinks that if Trump says he is putting a tariff on China that he is putting a tax on China that China pays to us.

That is the democrat’s fault for relaying on mainstream media to explain it. Which they are doing now but the election is over.

Only now do I see many on the street type videos explaining tariffs in dumbed down ways, now that it is too late.

I just want to say that I get tired of the “But I came here legally” trope.

The system is so broken, as I understand it, that there are very few ways for an economic migrant to come here legally.

In my experience, when I’ve had the chance to push back I ask “How did you come here legally” and it’s more often than not they were born here to parents who came here in some way they don’t really know (or want to say)

Possibly talking past each other.
People did vote the way they did because of the economy; it was the top issue in pre- and post- polling. They were just horribly misinformed about the state of the economy (which is actually very good, and better than Trump’s first 3 years), what Trump’s plans will do, and have been jedi mind tricked into forgetting about Trump’s last year.

The issue is that democrats didn’t have a voice in this election. It seems that most people who aren’t politically engaged only hear the conservative talking points.

So if you mean that Democrats need to find better ways with talk media, social media and (sadly) memes to communicate their ideas, I agree.
But if you’re saying they needed to explain it better, or more often, through existing channels, then I disagree. Most people wouldn’t see it, and all it would have done is yet more people claiming that Democrats were patronizing or condescending.

They voted for Trump either out of malice or because they are fools (or both); something true of all Republican voters regardless of race. Those “traditional views” people keep harping on? All malice. Hurt women, hurt gays, hurt anyone of the “wrong” religion…

It’s just extra stupid for non-whites since the Republicans have been violently racist for decades now. But not any stupider than the gay-membership Log Cabin Republicans; some people will willingly support the people who want to persecute or kill them while convincing themselves they’ll be the exception.

It’s ridiculous because MAGA is ridiculous. The Nazis were also ridiculous. That doesn’t mean that they don’t intend exactly that. Just because their beliefs are vile and stupid doesn’t mean that they aren’t genuinely held. And the American Right has idolized slavery for as long as it has existed, that’s literally its founding principle; and I’ve heard them defend and praise it all my life. Literally from childhood. They are just getting louder now about what they’d always wanted.

Identifying with an aggressive overlord makes some people feel stronger. Also, Stockholm Symdrome. Also, misogyny.

This article offered up some interesting insights on what happened with the Latino vote.

Why Democrats Lost Latinos - POLITICO

Among other things, the Democrats neglected the Hispanic community in a lot of places:

But I did expect a robust Democratic presence in swing states. In mid-October, I went to Reading, Pennsylvania’s fourth-largest city, which is almost 70 percent Latino. Pennsylvania, more than any other state, was a must-win for Harris. So I was stunned when every local Latino Democrat I spoke to told me the same thing: Trump’s campaign was outcompeting Harris in Reading. In the two months before the election, Trump held two rallies there; J.D. Vance came through; and Tucker Carlson had taped a segment in town with Alex Jones and Jack Posobiec. Harris, on the other hand, hadn’t come to Reading since 2023, before she was at the top of the Democratic ticket.

And:

In Pennsylvania, Obama spent the 2012 cycle in the suburban halos around Philadelphia and Pittsburgh; he never went back to Reading. Clinton, Biden and Harris pursued the same strategy. Their get-out-the-vote operation followed them to the same places. That’s created an opening for Trump, who has never been afraid to chase first-time voters. While Democrats’ data map sent them to whiter, college-educated suburbs, Trump made an audacious play in low-turnout Latino cities like Reading.

Politico: Why So Many Latino Voters Abandoned Democrats, According to the Data

There’s a Dominican American guy on the radio right now in Boston who has mixed status family. He voted for Trump because he’s upset about the Haitians flooding into Lawrence MA, taking jobs from Dominicans. He’s not concerned that Trump is going to deport anyone he’s close to. Only the Venezuelans and Haitians.

In other words he’s a fool. That’s always what it boils down to with Trump voters; they are either evil or fools, and nothing else.

Well the next person was a Dominican who pined for the days when the DR was a dictatorship. “A country needs a little dictatorship now and then”

The third person said he couldn’t abide his son being taught that homosexuality was okay in school, even though of course he personally had nothing against gays. Uh-huh.

But never fear, we have a Haitian former refugee who thinks that Papa Doc and Baby Doc were all swell, and the Tonton Macoute kept the criminals in order. And also of course Trump supports Jesus or vice versa.

I’m starting to develop anti-immigrant feelings myself listening to this crap.

After that article came out, Harris did go to Reading.

Less than 1 percent of Pennsylvanians live in Reading. If you go there, you do not go someplace else. And I would like to see the evidence that people vote for candidates on the basis of whether they visited their town.
