You know, the cat that kept coming back the very next day.
Mr. Johnson doesn’t seem like a very nice guy, does he?

Perhaps he was allergic. Or couldn’t afford it. or was just a curmudgeon.
Because cats suck. Period. Dirty, disgusting filthy animals.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I hate cats.
or the cat ripped all his furnature to shreds.
or it was a street cat he made the mistake of feeding one day
or it was his ex-wife’s cat and that was all she left hm in the divorce
or the songwriters couldn’t bring themselves to write such things about a dog
Well, the first day, if I remember the cartoon movie correctly, the cat ruined old Mr. Johnson’s beloved baby rattle, so Mr. Johnson kicked him out.
See this video, and ask no more.
Though in all seriousness, I think teela has it.
Wrong clip. Here it is.
No, that was the clip I meant to link to. I was joking–cats are annoying in the morning?
Ahahaha. And I thought my dog’s cold wet nose in the mornings was bad! (true story: in high school my dad would be the first person up, so he’d let the dog out, and had trained her to come wake me up. Nothing like an excited, cold post-walk nose in your face to get you out of bed).
I had no idea there was a cartoon - my only familiarity with the tune is from kid’s folk music. Live and learn! (Though I still don’t really like that old Mr. Johnson).
