I write the way I speak and then go back and edit it usually for content (and since I try to put as much value into every word, I usually have people misunderstand what I’m trying to say because they didn’t read it carefully) (this is done naturally and I’m trying to adjust)
I said multiple times that the topic of who is and is not Jewish, and what Judaism is and is not, is a tangent and doesn’t belong in this thread. Rather than warning four or five people I will say you’re on your last chance.
In what way is voting for Obama like voting for Hitler on a small scale?
I can’t answer that question (though if you read what I wrote earlier it should be apparent) (I’ll just give these 2 facts, 6 million murdered is 1 person times 6 million, and if someone supports someone who’s policies causes people to be murdered then it’s not such a stretch to say that they would support the murder himself for the same reasons.
(that should get through the author of his own Sefer haZikkuk)
by not allowing post that answer the question because there "off topic " you’re also not allowing the true answer to the original question (because if you understand what I’m saying there everything makes perfect sense)
Which of Obama’s policies cause people to be murdered? Sorry if you addressed this before, but I’m not wading through 6 pages.
Here’s another example of how the Orthodox population has shrunk then grew
only includes respondents (therefore excluding children )
table 6-2
Fair Lawn’s non included in Bergen County and Weehawken, North Bergen, Secaucus, Guttenberg, West New York, and Union City are included.
Bergen County Orthodox% of the population by age
75+ (9.1%)
65-74 (5.5%)
50-64 (10.0%)
35-49 (14.0%)
34- (25%)
I understand what you’ve said. You’re free to open a new thread in Great Debates to discuss it, but it’s not relevant and the hijack went on long enough before I stepped in. The question of this thread is why American Jews tend to vote for the Democrats. Saying that most of those voters aren’t really Jews and real Jews vote Republican doesn’t address the question because it says nothing about why the people in qusetion vote the way they do. It just seeks to redefine what Judaism is (while making opinion-based assertions about the motives and identity of most Jews). What’s real Judaism and what isn’t is a doctrinal issue that should be debated separately from a discussion that’s mostly about politics. I’m not going to argue about this further in this thread. If you aren’t sure what you’re being asked to do, start a discussion in the ATMB forum, and if you want to continue with your discussions about Judaism itself, start a thread in Great Debates.
He hasn’t. He’s baldy asserting that Democratic policies are like Hitler, so “real Jews” vote Republican, because “real Jews” care more about gay marriage and abortion and Christian hegemony than they do about social justice, tikkun olum, etc. Without getting into the hijack of what “real Jews” are or are not, the facts he’s cited don’t support his conclusion.
forcing Israel to remove roadblocks (which have saved many lives) near Hevron caused this to happen.
Orthodox jews give way more to charity then non Orthodox jews so don’t lecture us on social justice. (proven time and again)
at the risk of getting kicked out for trying to say the the point I was saying before and show you what I meant
gay marriage and abortion on demand are clearly forbidden by traditional/historic/true Judaism (now if you don’t like one of the terms please use another) .
Then why is it going against that one of the main issues that jews look for today when voting?
that is a basically a 2 part answer
based on the experiences of Orthodox jews when they got to this country and the problems they faced. when faced with problems like the blue laws to fight keep Orthodoxy in this case shabbos, the excuse used to fight is was the separation of church and state. In which a generation later which cared a lot less about principle of shabbos (this is is fact) but the thing which jews didn’t realy care about became the important principle “separation of church and state”. Now is it so controversial to say this and then theorize that most reform jews who are pushing for this ancestors would be on my side of the issue.
if I get kicked off for saying the truth despite the fact that the **facts **I’m I’m saying has never been argued on and I’m being accused by someone of being off topic despite the obvious connection.
Q: “Why do the Joneses always fahrvergnüg?”
A: “The Joneses are not Joneses. They’re really Smiths. Smiths fahrvergnüg. The real Joneses don’t fahrvergnüg; they fahrverghassen.”
Do you see how you’re not answering the question?
The problem is that your answer is largely on topic but you continue to make unnecessary and irrelevant assertions about what Judaism is and isn’t. That’s what I’ve told you to stop doing. I am not kicking you off the board, but I am giving you a formal warning for it, and repeated warnings can lead to a ban.
I also told you to stop arguing about the moderation in the thread. We have a separate forum for that.
if you read what I said you’ll notice a said a lot more then just that I explained how and why non Orthodox jews adopted many of the principles that turned them in to …
I think it is relevant to the question of “why do American Jewish voters favor the Democrats?” to point out that only certain kinds of “American Jewish voters” favor Democrats, and what separates those who favor Democrats from those who do not. Don’t you think?
“They’re not really Joneses” is not a helpful answer.
I didn’t see the second warning.
This exactly.
It’s fine to note that some subpopulations of American Jews are more conservative politically than others. It’s not fine to claim those subpopulations are the only real Jews, and all the others are fake Jews who voted for Hitler.
This is not an anti-semitism issue. Conflating “support of Israel’s specific policy actions” with “limits on Israel equal anti-semitism” does nothing for either support of Israel or opposition to anti-semitism.
That’s not what was said.
