Why do Humans Have Sex?

This isnt a topic I talk about alot but I found this article “Why Do We Have Sex?” to be a good read.

I’ll spare you the details but when it comes down to it, why do we have sex? After you get past the usual reasons of procreation and just downright pleasure, the real reason comes out. It’s for intimacy and connection. That’s right. A desire to feel close to someone.

How this has helped me is I’ve been dealing with some issues with friends and relatives and finding out why they divorced or cheated. Many times it was because their original spouse didnt provide the intimacy they wanted.

Anyways I found it to be a good read. Please share your comments.

I always thought guys liked it when the woman left right away afterwards. That’s what makes prostitution so popular.

I actually read where a regular customer says, “Hookers are great. You don’t have to bother with dinners and sweet talk and all that bullshit. You just fuck.”

To paraphrase Feynman, sex is like physics. Sure, it might give practical results, but that’s not why we do it.

Manu people who use the services of prostitutes like it when there is more to the encounter thanks just sex. In discussions terms like presales and aftersales are fairly common.

When I went through Catholic school, the only reason was procreation. Try arguing with the nuns about that!

There are as many flavors of this as there are individuals. For men, they might just want to relieve the itch, they might want the temporary sense of intimacy they get from a brief encounter, or they might want a real connection.

I don’t pretend to understand anything about women so I won’t comment about them.

Because that’s what we’re programmed to do.

Have you tried having sex with them?

how is babby formed? how girl get pragnent?

FWIW, I agree completely with Urbanredneck. After nearly 53 years of marriage, intimacy is the real payoff. I am repelled by the idea of a prostitute (and have never indulged). But maybe that’s just me and my wife.

Its the sex, not the intimacy. If you were in a relationship where you were physically attracted to your partner and they said they loved to be with you, got along really well, did and enjoyed stuff together, but was told never to touch them in a sexual way, would you’d be happy and stay? Don’t think you’d be happy for long. Lack of sex may not be the only straw that breaks the camels back, but its one of them. I took a relationship class years ago and the instructor said the quickest way a woman can get her mate to cheat on her was to let him know he was terrible in the sack. Most men’s first impulse will be to go out and prove her wrong.

To infuriate the missionaries.

As someone said about the Pope, “if they don’t play the game, they shouldn’t make the rules.”

I thought that’s why you use the doggy position instead of the missionary position.

Old lady here who has been intimate with the same guy for 44 years: It feels good and relaxes us. Not to get to into it, now that we don’t have to go to work, it’s a great way to start the day.

Because it feels awesome, and you get to cuddle nude afterward. It always feels less than satisfying when for whatever reason we can’t cuddle afterward.

You don’t pay the prostitute for the sex. You pay her to LEAVE after the sex.

There’s nothing on TV.

Even back in the days when I was having anonymous sex, it was never just about the sex. There was always the hope that it would lead to something more, something intimate and permanent.

I think you are over-simplifying. Intimacy is more than just getting along and enjoying stuff together. Sex can add to existing intimacy, or can be the beginning of a burgeoning intimacy, or it can just be a sort of temporary (and not very real) intimacy all by itself. So you can have emotional intimacy without sex, you can have sex without intimacy, but the two together add up to much more than the sum of the parts.
