Why do linked pix show up in tapatAlk but not other browsers?

When a picture is linked in a post and I’m browsing in Tapatalk, the picture displays in the post, but when I’m browsing with Safari, it shows up as a link. I have to click on it to see the picture.

Why the difference? Could we get that feature for browsers operating on computers?

I would assume that’s a feature of the Tapatalk app. Browsers, not being intended for just reading web forums, would just display the page as it’s coded.

I’m guessing a userscript could be thrown together to create a similar result in your browser.

Good idea! I just looked for an extension that will do this in Firefox’s extensions site and found one. It seems to work well.

The link to it is is here.

I found an albums-cover post in Café Society, here to test it. I then went into the extension’s preferences to adjust the size to “0”, which displays the link at the original size.

Any images on an entire page that’s linked won’t display, though.

Is there a similar add-on for Safari?

Not that I can find.

Found one for Safari called HoverZoom.

I loaded it and it works on the same Café Society album-cover test in Post #3, above.

Thanks! I’ll try it out once I get back to my Mac.

I actually am annoyed by this feature of Tapatalk because you can’t read the link text.

Yeah it sucks in CS threads when people are using pics or video links as their answer to the OP.

If you haven’t figured it out yet Asencray, if you quote/reply to the post in question you can read the text of the link in the code.

And this is the reason I always use direct image links here. I actually sometimes feel a bit guilty for hotlinking, if the images are from a site I normally support via ads.

There used to be a Greasemonkey script by a Doper designed to handle all this. It would even play YouTube videos in an overlay.
