It’s probably better to get an answer to a “Why do men like…” question from an actual man, no? I mean we laughed at Serlin for pretending to know what women actually want, right?

I think Spiny made the most accurate descrpition. I don’t think its a universal thing. And it’s not necessarily degrading. I mean you could argue that making a woman swallow is degrading, too. Hell you could change your name to Catharine MacKinnon and claim that every sexual act is ultimately degrading to women. “Rape culture” and all that.

Men are really stimulated visually, more so than women. This is why Playboy greatly outsells Playgirl. The facial is a visualizatiuon of the male orgasm. It’s an odd thing that I don’t really get either and I can understand why women might find it unusual too. But we might as well sit here and ask why certain men like large breasts or big hips or blue eyes or high heels. Or why certain women like their men tall or husky or skinny, etc etc.

There’s really no concrete answer to sexual "why"s.

I observed recently in conversation that the facial shot is a peculiar phenomenon in heterosexual porn, because for the few seconds before orgasm, the male viewer is essentially looking at another man masturbating. It’s on the borderline of being weirdly homoerotic, if you ask me. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, necessarily, but it seems like the target audience (semi-pun intended) doesn’t swing that way.

Anyway, that aspect, plus the fact that I can’t imagine the woman getting any real pleasure out of it, makes it, for me, an unpleasant element in otherwise enjoyable adult entertainment. :smiley:

I did not include the URL in my OP for two reasons: one, it isn’t fully working yet, and two, I did not think it proper to include the link directly in the post. I have no problems with the moderator taking it out. It is not a commercial site, and I don’t do it for money; just a way that combines a hobby :cool: and forces me to keep up with some developments in web development, at least on an amateur scale.

To make some observations: I find anything done against a woman’s will to be very offensive and quite frankly a turn-off. Like the post above said, making a women do anything is degrading.

I agree that a) porn is actually largely ‘image’ and ‘illusion’. As such, video makers have to continually portray the image that in fact the woman does dig getting a load. Having perused a few Playgirls, I’d have to say that this is NOT the reason. The men pictured (in the issues I’ve seen) are, for the most part, waaaaayyyyyy too hairy, and have a lot of fat. While I’d be willing to overlook (and quite possibly even enjoy) this in someone I was actually in a relationship with, I don’t really like that look. So if all I’m doing is looking, I want to see something else. Second, of the guys I saw in Playgirl, I found fewer than 1 in 20 appealing. Third, it seems that Playgirl’s main purpose isn’t to show pics of attractive guys…it’s an outlet for personals ads and ads for phone sex. I do get visually stimulated by some guys. Heck, some video game characters can get me hot (mmmmmmm, Squall…). But I didn’t get much stimulation at all from Playgirl.

And as for Playgirl’s stories…they seemed to be written by men, under a female name. They seemed to be male fantasies, not female.

YMMV, of course, and I can’t claim that I really read a LOT of Playgirls. I found that I just didn’t get enough bang for my buck.

Let us debate what is and is not exploitation, shall we?

A female porno star can make up to $1000 a day for being in a film, which is not continuously shot. I would say that 99% of the women in such films are there willingly and several have capitalized on their fame to become movie stars, book writers, appeared on talk shows, radio shows, starred in Vegas at $5 to $10,000 a show, shown up at the local strip club with a guaranteed $1000, plus tips for one night only.

One of the most famous, Seka, retired quite well off, another one shows up in movies, several more have excellent places in California and almost all are in demand for dates with famous people.

Not bad for any woman willing to pose nude on camera, fake climaxes, over act and get a bit of stuff in her face now and then. In Sweden, well, the last I heard, a lot of women make porn pictures to pay for their schooling or supplement their incomes. In Nevada, where hooking is legal, no one is actually forced into the business and the pay is good, conditions controlled and health checked. Condoms are a must.

With AIDS like it is today, most porn stars have to be clean and get checked, so the lesson of John Holmes is not repeated. He caught AIDS and presumably gave it to several of his film partners.

So, I don’t know if a woman willing to make big bucks is exploitation or not. It seems unlikely and if so, then are not the male stars being exploited also? After all, those guys are usually hired for the size of their stuff, not necessarily their looks or acting abilities, as any lover of porn can tell you. What about the guys in homosexual films?

To say it is because guys are pigs is completely inaccurate. Guys ARE pigs but I have met quite a few girls who enjoyed facials both in porn movies and in person.
As far as facials in movies, it is definetly more visually stimulating. If you are watching porn, you want to see EVERYTHING. Hardcore porn should leave nothing to the imagination. I certainly don’t want to see the screen fade out just as miles long starts to climax in patty peaks! Women enjoy visual stimulation as well. This isn’t a male/female issue. To make it one would require some HUGE generalizations.
In “real life sex” I think that facials are a dominance thing, but isn’t sex about dominance to some degree anyway? Just as men sometimes want to be dominant, woman sometimes enjoy being dominated. Another observation: I am sure that in all countries there are cases of women being sort of ‘captive’ to the porn industry due to money troubles, or a drug habit, or whatever. But in my experience in Japan, we don’t have to exploit women: they walk into our offices, literally stunning women, wanting to be an AV actress. Why? Some want to buy the latest Gucci or LV bags. And the men that in general do control the AV/porn industry in Japan are probably making more than the women – but they also work 6-7 days a week. The AV stars I know make one or two movies a month, for a grand total of about 6 working days a month; most days will simply be a couple of hours at a planning/contract session.

All the male leads I have met have been extremely polite; the women are treated extremely well.

All have at least appeared to honestly enjoy sex. Put another way: I think all honestly enjoy sex, not in the ‘male pig way of thinking that all women are actually sluts’.
