I am generally turned off by someone who is trying so hard to fit into a particular subculture. Its usually either someone who is so insecure about themselves that they have to wear the uniform of a particular fad or someone who screams “Look at me!” with every fiber of their being. No thanks.

Good fitting, classic fit jeans and a t-shirt is a timeless look. 20 years from now, when everyone is making fun of the woman’s hairstyle and ridiculous trendy clothes, the men will still look as good as ever.

Then we know that he cares enough about his grooming that he is clean and presentable but not so much that he needs to be trendy.
Most girls like low maintenance guys (in the same way that most guys want low maintenance girls).
Is your nephew extremely young? I don’t understand how wearing a $30 shirt is throwing cash around. It sounds like driving a fairly low mileage Honda Accord and kicking some Rockports to let women know you’re loaded.
I get the sense from her threads that she’s shooting for being seen as a Manic Pixie Dream lesbian and doesn’t realize that one person’s idea of quirky fun behavior is another’s annoying as hell.
