In a weird way I consider it a certain level of intimacy, I mean, guys will blast ass around total strangers and not care, but for a woman to let one loose in front of someone, to me that means they’re pretty close- good friends or a SO.
Honestly in my experience women tend to be lacking in farting skills probably because they were socialized not to do it, while guys got mixed messages (its rude, but its also funny). I accused a girlfriend of being unable to fart and she tried to take me to task by proving me wrong, but it was pretty difficult for her to just rip a loud one in front of me. I mean, in that situation, she wanted to, but simply couldn’t.
Its like being unable to pee if someone’s looking at you. Stage fright :o
My ex used to do this. She’d do this little curtsey and let it rip, then giggle and expect me to laugh and hug her. No, sorry, not cute and pretty irritating and nasty. One of the reasons we are X.

Of course, they didn’t have any white ones, because of the war, so we had to wear those big yellow ones.
