I’m late to the party, but in college the story went that if you could peel the label off intact, you’d get laid that night. In a school with a nearly 4-1 ratio of men to women, you needed all the help you could get, magical thinking included.
Ever hopeful for any sign that some woman sitting at a bar is just itching for some man to come along and offer to have some kind of sex. Surely, surely it’s a cry from the unconscious! 
I would peel the label off now and then, never knew I was mesmerizing men as if I was a mandrill in a zoo ‘presenting’. … really, white trash song lyrics notwithstanding, it’s something to do with your hands when sitting in a boring bar with sportsball on the tv.
Male here and I used to peel labels off beer bottles in bars all the time. Mind you in my youth I hung more in dive joints so I ONLY drank bottled beer.
As I got older I’ve hung around in a bit higher class drinking establishments and not as fearful of drinking my fav draught beer from a glass.
I take it I’m not alone?
