I frequently use CTRL+N to open another Window in WinIE, then launch another page in that window. Why doesn’t WinIE enable the lower Status Bar when I do that?
Is there a setting that will force it do to so?

I’ve been wondering about that too.
What OS version are you using ?
In XP, see if this helps:
If you’re using any other OS version, look for a similar option within “Folder Options/Views” or equivalent.
XP often has the status bar off by default, probably because newbies don’t need to know, for example, how much “memory” they have on their hard drives (and tend to do things like delete essential system files because they don’t think 78GB of free space on an 80GB drive is enough). It’s even more annoying in IE, when you need it to see the progress of a site loading.
But I know no way of having Windows turn it on by default; sometimes it saves the setting, sometimes it doesn’t.
That worked Xash - thanks!!
This is a known problem.

It’s not a bug, it’s a feature!
