Why does ice cream taste so good at night?

Is there a reason why?

The flaw in this statement is that ice cream tastes so good any time of day.

True, but it really is better at night.

Because it’s been so long since you last cleaned your teeth.

I’m not sure, but in the last novel I wrote, the main character says that if you’re wondering what the best food in the world is, it’s ice cream at midnight.

It’s nicest after you’ve had a dinner of something acidic, like spaghetti with tomato sauce. After the tartness of the sauce, some creamy vanilla or salted caramel gelato is the perfect contrast.

Since this combo always takes place in the evening for me, yes, I’d say ice cream tastes best at night.

It’s because I can curl up on the couch under a blanket with a good book, my ice cream in a cup (I eat ice cream out of a coffee cup. I do this because then I can pack it in there real good, get it really, REALLY cold, and then eat it - it won’t go all soft and melty on me - I hate soft and melty ice cream. And when you eat stuff in a non-traditional way around here - for me that means ice cream in a cup versus in a bowl - the peanut gallery tends to weigh in with clever comments that are simply annoying so if you want until they’ve gone to BED, they don’t see you), in peace and quiet, and read and eat my non soft and non melty ice cream until my heart’s content. I only get peace and quiet like that at night - it’s kind of comforting I suppose. Plus it’s quiet. Nobody bothers me. NO one.

Plus calories are cut in half once the sun goes down, and in half again if no one sees you eating them. I think it’s a law.

Plus nobody bothers me. Did I mention the peach and quiet yet?

Peach and Quiet…is that a new Ben & Jerry’s flavor?

That is a good one ! I think it’s b/c if you have kids they’re in bed by then you don’t to share it with them. I think ice cream taste good at any time of day.

I don’t know if it tastes better at night but I do know it tastes better when you eat it with a plastic spoon.
