My parents worship their kids and would say they spoiled us, but if I was cruel to someone they would have expressed great disappointment and disapproval. Pinning this on his mother - who I sincerely doubt would have approved of such a mean stunt - is fucking lame.
The way Kanye welled up and looked sincerely chastened after the question about his mom, he certainly didn’t give the impression that he thought she would approve.
I worship and spoil my kids too, but that doesn’t mean I don’t set standards of behavior. And no matter how much his mom may or may not have spoiled him, Kanye West is now a grown-ass man, and is responsible for his own actions.
Having said that, I think I’m starting get a little tired of the Kanye bashing. Yes, he behaved like an ass (possibly because he was in a bi-polar, manic upswing), but it’s not like he killed anybody, and it looked to me on Leno like he was honestly contrite about it. I don’t even think Chris Brown got as much media opprobrium for beating the hell out of Rihanna.
So, am I to understand that A Flock of Seagulls took home no awards, then?
They won best rap video. Personally, I’m glad that this huge step in a new direction worked out so well for them. 50 Cent, on the other hand, is totally pissed.
The worst part about all this is that Kanye interrupted her right before she was about to pledge her undying love and devotion to me.

Heard on the radio: Kanye didn’t actually apologize to Swift till she was asked on the View if he did. She said no, and then he called in.
He apologized to the public, but not to the person he hurt.
… yeaaah.
I think he’s not very bright. He can’t speak normally. He seems not so much immature or self centered as just slow mentally.
Cite for the apology. Apparently, he didn’t call in, he called her after the show.
If we’re going for rumors, then according to my sister and everyone she knows in the Greater New Orleans restaurant community, Kanye’s a rude and arguably racist ass who doesn’t tip. She demurs this may be due to his alcohol abuse.
Since the offense was public, I think the apology should have been, too.
I do think it was likely preplanned for publicity reasons, though. I don’t think Swift was actually involved, though. She’s not that good an actress. Heck, neither is Beyonce. And the only way it could logically work is if both were savvy enough to know that nobody would suspect them. Beyonce, maybe. Swift? Hardly.
Finally, it really surprises me how many people have not heard of Swift. Did you not watch Idol and hear people comparing others to her?
ETA: and Kanye is stupid enough to do think it was a good idea, even without the publicity thing. That’s how somebody so incompitant wouldn’t accidentally reveal the conspiracy.
