Christ, get a grip. He doesn’t like some comics that you like. It’s not a big deal. Take a couple of deep breaths and calm down.
Geez, folks…it’s KeenSpace! Getting upset because someone doesn’t like most of the comics at KeenSpace is like getting mad that somebody doesn’t find most of the personal websites at GeoCities absolutely fascinating, despite the fact that someone’s sister has a site on there that they update religiously with the daily antics of her three cats. KeenSpace, like GeoCities, is the lowest common denominator for it’s particular niche. Anyone can have a page for free. The problem is that there are SO MANY that the effort required to read them all to find the six good ones isn’t worth it.
If you put your work out to the public, you can’t reasonably expect to hear only positive things about it. Even Michelangelo and DaVinci had their detractors.
I think that web only technology is hindered by the craptasticness of Flash. I am also sympathetic to the desire to make comics that can be sold in a solid format without doing anything crazy or too far from the web material. I suspect individuals with more technical than art talent will be the source of interesting new ways to use the web for web comics, even if it is at first to make the first compensate for the lack of the second.
I do like when web comics use a format that doesn’t look like a newspaper strip. These can be printed in a book without difficulty and take advantage of the fact that the comic is not sharing a page with a number of other comics. There is a web comic about a valkyrie (I think) that has an issue format. I think more web comics in that style would be nice, especially ones that are focused on story arcs and not individual gags.

I’d just ike to offer a harty “Fuck You” to andros.
[quote]
Hi there. My name’s andros. Nice to meet you, too.
Hope she draws better than you type.
Sorry, that was petty.
Seriously, though . . . so fucking what? Maybe she’s great. Maybe she’s going to bypass the Spot and head straight to Dark Horse. So what? I’m glad it’s a great opportunity for her to practice and presumably get feedback. Doesn’t mean her strip is any good, and it sure as hell doesn’t mean anyone else’s on Keenspace are any good.
Oh yeah? Well, my sister is a flying monkey, and I’m mortally offended by your reference to her ass.
Now then, Scott_plaid:
You know, you’re running the risk of pissing a bunch of people off. Where, precisely are all the “haters” in this thread? I’m the only one that would fit that description in your world, as near as I can tell. Are you really trying to insult the people who are (mostly) on your side?
For that matter, I hope to hell she draws better than I code.
Heh. **andros ** and Ray Smuckles are kindred spirits.
By the way, if free entertainment gets much better than Achewood, I don’t know about it.
Geez, andros! Do you know Milholland or something?
Teehee.
I’ll be interested to see his list–I’m always looking for new webcomics.
You’re a better man than I, Randy. Godspeed.
Scott_plaid, I’m sure Randy can expect your “OMG YOU SUXX0R!!!” email soon?
:d&r:
No, I quite expect his making fun of furriers by now, and am simply annoyed when people make fun of other peoples hard work. I doubt he will say that a site is crap just because he doesn’t like the subject manner, and so I doubt he will slander peoples hard work. And besides from reading back archives of that strip, it is evident that a flood of critical letters won’t change his mind, if he does.
Oh, you are so cute.
You’re not kawaii . . . but you’re close, ya lil’ scamp.
Heheheheheh!!! Oh, my…that WAS funny.
As a long-time reader of SomPos, I can definitely tell you that a flood of letters saying that Randy should do one thing will almost certainly result in him doing the exact opposite. Something*Positive is NOT a whining-customer-service-oriented webcomic.
Hell, he ran over Kestrel just to spite the Davan/Kestrel 'shippers…
Oh snap, is that what that was all about? Beautiful!
Milholland’s going after people who make fur coats?
Oh, my, yes…some bunch of idiots were taking nonexistent cues from the time Kestrel visited Boston to pester Randy to make Kestrel and Davan hook up when she eventually moved up there. How they managed to be fans of EITHER comic, really, and think that they could manage to get Randy to 'ship those two escapes me completely.
Yes.
Heh. That’s cool.
I gotta thank Randy, though. I don’t know how I’ve missed Scandal Sheet! for three years. I gotta say, it’s the few strips like that which could almost make up for the terribly, horribly bad kekekekeKawaii furry fairie vampire strips.
