It’s as if Season 6 doesn’t exist. I’m in Hawai’i, for what it’s worth, and I don’t use a VPN.
Googling the problem seems to show that S6 was available in Mexico before it was available in the US, but that’s old news by now. As far as I can tell, everyone but me can watch S6.

It just finished its original run. It’ll take a few months before Netflix gets it.
It originally ran on AMC so you need to have that as part of your cable or satellite package to watch it now. Or you could buy it from Amazon Prime for $20. Or wait until maybe November when Netflix gets it.
Oh, d’uh. I feel like an idiot now. My only excuse is that I lived abroad insulated from American television of any kind for the past few decades, until I moved back to the US a few years ago and started watching Netflix and Hulu on my computer. I don’t have cable or a TV, and don’t watch anything except those two streaming services. When I’m at someone else’s place and see all the choices they have on their big-screen TVs with cable, I’m completely indifferent.
I do have Amazon Prime, although I virtually never use it for streaming purposes (I did start watching something discussed on the SDMB a week or so ago, though).
Maybe I’ll spend $20 to get season 6. Thanks for explaining!
FWIW, I enjoyed the final season the most.
If you wanted to watch it during the run, you could subscribe to AMC through Prime Video for a couple of months. But AMC streaming only makes each episode available for a few weeks after it first airs. Unfortunately you are now in the window between when AMC first airs it and then streams it for a few weeks, and when Netflix gets it later on. So I think if you don’t want to wait for Netflix, your only option is to buy it.
I can see the logic of their plan - try to get people to subscribe to AMC during the run, many of them may just forget to cancel or decide to keep up their AMC subscription longer term. Then take it off AMC streaming and have a window where the only way to see it is to pay up to buy it. Then when that revenue is drying up, it goes to Netflix.
If there are no extenuating circumstances preventing you from getting a VPN… it’s really worth doing so! Easy to install, reliable, and you can always cancel it after a month.

It’s trivially easy to pirate it even without a VPN but describing how to do that is against board rules. I only resort to that if something is entirely unavailable without stealing it.
Good to know, thanks! Mrs. solost and I were contemplating a subscription to AMC+, and a large part of the reason was to be able to watch the final season of BCS without having to wait for Netflix to get it.
