I thought Preview Post was there so we could go back and edit mistakes before Submitting. Twice recently, though, I previewed, found something I wanted to change, hit the Back button, and shazam, it was gone. This time, I remembered the problem, so I copied the whole post before I clicked Preview. When it vanished, I had a backup. WTF? Why do I have to use an improvised step to go back to the post to fix it?
I dunno what’s going on. Anyone else seeing this? Or not seeing this, as the case may be.
Under what circumstances, time of day, anything else you can think of that might have some bearing on the situation short of the phase of the moon (although I’m not discounting that either), we need to know.
The more details we have, the more I’ll be able to work with here.
Please tell me your operating system, what browser you’re using, and all the other information that we need to try to duplicate the problem – and figure out what’s going on. If we can.

I must be misunderstanding you. When you hit preview and see something you want to change, why are you hitting the back button? Your post should appear for editing on the preview page itself without having to go back at all. It’s not unusual to lose whatever info you’ve entered on a form when you go “back” to it.
Maybe Berkut has it. I thought you had to go back to the composing screen to do the editing, and that the preview screen was as indelible as the finished post is.
I usually do my proofreading and editing the first time through, so I seldom use Preview. This time, though, I had copied a couple of pieces from MS Word. One of them was written by somebody who used a lot of underline, and I went back to Vb-code all the underlines. I got all but one right, too. :smack:
Heh. I’ve caught myself trying to edit the previewed display of my post instead of scrolling down to the editable portion of that page. But I’m a goober and I didn’t think it happened to anyone else but me.
I think that at the moment the only time you might really want to go back is if you’re using the HTML codes like [ and you want to keep them. That’s because vB currently interprets them in your input area.
Personally, in cases like that (such as composing this post) I keep a copy in Notepad until I’m ready to post because there’s enough of a chance of back not working.
Even easier is just Ctrl-A / right click / copy - just in case the hamsters get the munchies.
Well, that was MY stupid post of the day; my brain completely skipped over the “hit the back button” part of it.
Don’t do that any more. Just scroll down the page to get your window back and edit as you like.
I’ll promise to read more closely. (What I get for trying to do 5 things at once.)
