Why does the SDMB refresh when I click "back" all of a sudden?

In the past, when I surfed the SDMB, the forum page stayed the same when I clicked “back.” Now it automatically refreshes every time I return to the forum. I hate it! Can someone help me out?

Why would this happen now? I’ve been reading the Straight Dope for years and this never happened.

Thank you! That did the trick. I did that before but couldn’t remember where I saw it. It’s funny how such little things can be so annoying.

Oops, I spoke too soon. The page refreshed. Do I have to restart my computer before the changes take effect? I have Windows 98, if that helps.

ya, thats happening to me as well…
it doesn’t appear to be a browser thing. hmmm, maybe i will try again.

Anyone have any advice?

I get a funny result when I hit Back. GQ refreshes to a date about 12/31, where the last question on the page concerned banding buckles (I’d give the date but now it’s refusing to do it).

It’s been doing this intermittently since the date of that page. To get to the present, I have to hit Refresh.

You’d think this would burden the hamsters.

Just did it again. GQ comes up as of a moment on 12/30,and the URL shows as: http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/forumdisplay.php?s=&daysprune=&forumid=3

GQ comes up properly today with:
http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/forumdisplay.php?forumid=3

So why are the hamsters inserting “s=&daysprune=&”? It comes between php? and forumid=3.
